If inlet fitting just keeps turning and it can`t be tightened then either the fitting or carb threads are stripped and needs repair . DO NOT DRIVE until it`s fixed . If it`s the carb talk to Lars about repairing it.

If the fitting keeps turning, your inlet threads in the carb's float bowl are stripped out. The carb will need to be removed, disassembled, and machined for a stainless insert to repair it. There are 3 people who can do that correctly: Me, Cliff Ruggles, and Henry Olsen. You cannot operate the carb before that is done if the threads are stripped.

I am embracing and tasting defeat. LOL. I have no connection to this carb so I may just replace it as I am not totally sure what the problem is/was. Will report back out once I figure it out. Hopefully someone more experienced sees something I am not.

It's quite simple - nothing to figure out: If the inlet fitting is spinning and not tightening, the threads are stripped. They need to be repaired. Get it repaired.

On second thought - looking closer at the one picture you posted in your first post, the carb has visual indications of being a commercially rebuilt carb. It may not be worth saving. Post a couple of overall photos of that carb so I can see what you have. If it's a commercial carb, you need to start looking for a good, unmolested, rebuildable core that can be rebuilt and set up right.
Also, looking at your one photo, the inlet fitting has been installed cocked and cross threaded. That would explain the stripped threads and your leak problem...
