I did the PB soak, jaw puller, time method. But I also used a little known automotive tool called a cinder block. Ratchet strapped it to the crossmember and let it free hang. I think it was the cinder block that broke the crossmembers back....
Great!
Now DO NOT pull down on the loose side.
Stuff will easily bend with all that leverage! BTDT
Agreed. In fact I was already concerned about that issue so the diff has some slight upward pressure on it from my motorcycle jack and wood blocks...which are ready to catch it when it falls. I been at it every few hours with some more PB and a couple turns of the 3 jaw puller bolt...which is now getting close to slipping off the crossmember bolt. Still no love. Gonna let it sleep on it to see if it gets convinced. Otherwise..the beatings will continue until morale improves.
I got a large 3 jaw puller from O'Reilly Auto Parts. One jaw was tricky wedging in. Got that set up...hung the cinder block. Kept hitting with PB and a couple turns on the puller. After a couple days I put a pry bar in and that got it to pop. Amazing how frozen these things get.
