Hi New here and new to vettes! Im working on doing a couple upgrades to my engine, Picked up edlebrok estreet 64cc heads an edlebrock performer intake, did a 2.5 " full exhaust. Im trying to figure out what carb and cam to get. Looking for suggestions on CFM and cam size.
Auto or 4 speed?
What are you expectations of the cam? How do you want it to idle?
I like the Classic 650 Double Pumper on 4 speed cars in the 400hp area....some say it is smallish but the trade off is instant response.....around town and everywhere else.....

Few streetable aftermarket cams will beat the performance and drivability of the L82 cam. Look at its specs - it's the same cam as the L46 350-horsepower cam. And your 800 cfm Q-Jet is one of the best carbs you can have on that engine. You stand a good chance of taking a few steps backwards if you're not careful with your random parts replacement program. Tune and set up what you have and you'll be further ahead than replacing good parts with mediocre parts. Installing good heads with some compression, along with a good exhaust, will work well with your other stock parts - you'll be in the 350 hp range right there.
