Why does everyone hate NCRS?

I would, however, preserve a car that was rare or unique.

Ryan, have you actually READ the post? Have you participated in an NCRS event, read the NCRS judging guides? If you've read the posts above you'll notice that the NCRS is NOT about cars being "perfect". It's about restoring the car to the exact appearance when it left St Louis. Judging points are deducted for a paint job that's too smooth without any orangepeel. Same goes for many other areas where cars are over-restored when compared to the way they were originally delivered.
Now, if you mean that the judging is picky, well yeah, it is. That's the whole point of it. Restore the car to the condition and appearance as it was delivered from GM, no better or worse. "Restoring" a car in NCRS circles adheres to the 3rd definition as supplied by the Webster online dictionary:
