"AHY"
Now we are getting somewhere.
Your Vette has the optional FE7 / gymkhana springs.
They are very much like the F41 or VBP springs.
All 550# rate. But yours have a higher load to hold up a heavier car.
You have options.
And yes you can cut any of them.
At least with these two they are a linear rate and you know what you are gonna get.
I am not fond of dual rate springs like the Ridetechs, on a race car. They change rate and alter the handling by stiffening the front and adding understeer. Not my first choice. OK for a street car I guess. I see no need for 700# rate springs on a street car. There are better ways to adjust the handling.

With KYB gas adjust shocks and those springs, the car is already incredibly stiff and handles very good in corners with like near zero body roll if any.
I'm still going to run 255/60/15's forever. I don't like big wheels on classic cars. So the ride is still not to much like a gocart.
I could return them and spend the $400 on a composite leaf spring. But that's gonna cost shipping etc.
Im currently waiting on all new rebuilt OEM control arms but with upgraded bushings. And the new springs would look good in there with freshly coated control arms.
I'm super torn now. All I know is I want the drop. I have the extra long leaf spring bolts to drop the rear as well.

If you decide to cut them my suggestion is take a tape measure and stand the spring up measure its total length. Then if you want say 2 inches off slide the tape over till it reaches the length is 2 inches shorter mark it make your cut. You will be close.
If I read this correctly you're saying cut the spring 2 inches shorter?

If you want to drop the fender height 2.0", then cut the coil 1.0" shorter.

Pending a refresh this winter, I still have an uncut set of 550 coils in the front along with the stock (for 1980) 1 1/8" swaybar. They do lower the car a fair amount without cutting.. If you cut any coils, you will effectively increase the spring rate. So if you have 8 turns now, and cut one full coil, you will have a pair of 630 lb springs. That's a lot, and likely beyond the capability of any non-adjustable shocks to dampen the spring (the Bilsteins are marginal as it is).

I would 100% suggest just going to semi coil-overs, as @gkull once convinced me to do, if you intend to drive and tweak your car. You can buy nice ones with double-adjustable shocks, and they cost less than solving a problem twice.
