Default 4 brake lights

I have some 1157 housings and all red lens coming for my 4 brake light conversion. Question I have do I have to change the turn signal flasher so when both turn tail lights are blinking they don't blink faster than normal with the extra current draw. I wouldn't think so since the extra current draw shouldn't be that great. Just asking in advance. I'm not going to run reverse lights at this time and I may just run the outer lights as the turn signals. Anyone have a good electrical schematic showing the mod? Thanks

If you are going to all 4 1157 rears, not sure you can break out 2 to flash only.
I run 4 1157s on the rear of my 69 and did not mess with the flasher.

I would think you could have it either way with the 2 or 4 being blinkers/flashers. It would just be a matter of either running the 1 left or right blinker wire from the harness to the left/right, OR splitting those wires into two and running to two lefts and two rights. That’s what I plan to do. No concern about draw as I’ll be using led’s. Unless I have this all wrong (looked at this a lot in the last while) it should be good to go. As a side note, I do also intend to change the flasher out to a Tridon EP37.
BTW, person on here I’ve found to have the most knowledge on this stuff (electrical related mods on these old Vette’s) is Richard454. You might want to pm him, if he does not step into this thread.

flasher generally doesnt care about the extra bulb. I had 6 1157's (3 on each side) in an old Mercury Cougar and I doubt the GM flasher is any different.

I put the bubble style tail lights in my 77 back in the late 70's. Lost my back up lights doing so. I have since changed tail lights again. But still run 4 rear turn signals.
I still have the factory flasher can. Never needed to change anything in that department.

I did a 4 brake light bubble lens conversion many years ago on my 76 and kept wiring the same. Ya end up with both flashing with turns.. nothing else required changing. Also added center high mount brake light from a C4. You'd have to be blind not to see me braking!!

You could even go with halos in the tail lights…

Thanks but I'm not that into modern LED's on my old classic car. Call me old-school. I just want the little added safety of 4 brake lights as the drivers today are sh*%t.
