Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (Mystery Machine)
A couple of more updates.:D Keep 'em coming - don't be afraid to nominate yourselves if you are comfortable speaking on/about a particular subject. Even if it already has a name beside it.

I can't believe I forgot about you Pat. Patsnitrovette certainly has built his share & knows a lot about a SB and could be added to the engine builders list.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
I'm in and I am changing my sig now. Maybe there can be some way to have a permament list that can be accessed from the C3 general discussion forum. Cool Idea.

We will be happy to help out in suspension and brakes anytime. I think you should also ask Norvilwilhelm. He seems to be pretty knowledgeable in many areas.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
I'd nominate Dalannex (Justin), UKPaul, and myself for most questions that have to do with the unique or near-unique aspects of the '81. There are a couple of other '81ers on here, too, that have learned a lot about these cars the hard way, I just don't recall the names right now. This topic certainly includes most of the general stuff about the "Computer Command Control" system, the E4ME carb, non-vacuum HEI ignition, etc. Most of this also applies to the 1980 California car with the LG4 engine. :seeya

I second Norval's expertise. Suspensions, engines, forced induction, DIY allignment . . . just an all around knowledgeable guy.
Also, forum member MIKER is a true DIY'er. He's got 1st hand knowledge on brakes, 700 R4 tranny's, differentials, engine swap and DIY allignment.
And lets's not forget Dave. Rolling Thunder is one of our best resources for fiberglass work.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (74-Roadster)
Thank you 74-Roadster but I am not in favor of being part of an expert anything. When someone gets a label sure enough he will let someone down.
I liked the old idea of throwing questions out there and reading all replies. If we field a question and the normal guy doesn't participate in answering what is the purpose to having a discussion group.
In the future are we to field the question then wait for the expert in that area to answer the question?
I don't think so.
I want opinions as much as I want expert advice.
Leave the forum the way it was and let all newcommers participate in posting.
If you are not knowledgeable in any field should you not be allowed to express an opinion?
In the end I always make up my own mind anyway but I like to hear as many different sides as possible.
You will destroying this.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
Being an expert on "101 positions in a Corvette", I will be glad to field any "fit" questions with suggestions. Of coarse...email me privately with both dimentions

I kind of agree with norval. The list COULD be usefull though. If for instance you have a question that you don't get replies to you could always IM someone on that list.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
:iagree:
I agree with Norval. I'd hate to be called upon as an expert on anything, but I've rebuilt just about every part on the car at least once, retrofitted a Richmond 5-speed, installed '93 sport seats, redone the interior, and all the other things that come from owning this puppy for 30+ years. I love to chime in when I have something to contribute, and still seek advice on the rare area I haven't touched. Reading the variety of ideas and solutions that a question generates is much of the fun here. Be careful not to diminish that. Also, we could bury a guy like Norval with questions pretty fast. Wouldn't want to burn him out. I'd have never gotten my rear crossmember and differential out without killing myself if it weren't for him!

Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
Well, of course Norval is right. (as usual.)
I would not want to claim to be an expert in any damn thing. I would, however, be glad to respond either on the forum or by email to anyone who has a question regarding those areas I tagged my handle onto.
Likewise, if I've got a particular question that no one has given a satisfactory answer to in a regular post, I would like to be able to access this "Resource List" and get a few names, which I could then do a search on for previous posts and an e-mail address.
There are just some days when a lot of folks aren't on the forum. I know I go for weeks sometimes without logging on. Most of us do have other things going on in our lives...

I am not looking to destroy anything. I am merely trying to add to the experience by giving people a list of knowledgeable people to be able to ask them directly for information. People will ALWAYS post here looking for info from ANYONE, I'd just lke to help by pointing out some of the people you might IM and ask to contribute to a particular thread.
