Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST....

I will update the list later today.

The people that I have found to be most knowledgable would have to be (in no specific order):
Norval, Jim(427hotrod), Tom454, Curtis (mountainmotor)
That's not to say there aren't other informative people on the forum. I have e-mailed all of the above and they were more than happy to go in depth with all of the questions I've had....that says a lot. All of the above are top of their game.

I liked the old idea of throwing questions out there and reading all replies. If we field a question and the normal guy doesn't participate in answering what is the purpose to having a discussion group.
In the future are we to field the question then wait for the expert in that area to answer the question?
I don't think so.
I want opinions as much as I want expert advice.
Leave the forum the way it was and let all newcommers participate in posting.
If you are not knowledgeable in any field should you not be allowed to express an opinion?
In the end I always make up my own mind anyway but I like to hear as many different sides as possible.
You will destroying this.

Don't forget GTR1999 and Monty as an authority on wheel bearings, (both are an authority on a number of other things as well), and when you talk q-jet info lets not forget about Clem Zharobsky (sorry if I spelled that wrong Clem), and Jim Shea for the steering. Of course, everybody else who chimes in and give, info, advice, and experiences is appreciated as well.

I do not need the forum. I enjoy it. I am in the teaching field at a large enginering university and I ENJOY helping others.
I will take months learning a part , one part of the corvette until I totally understand it then not bother with that part agian. I can afford to take a part and destroy it trying to make the part better.
I am looking at this expert list as saying you are the expert everyone else back off and let the expert answer the question. I personnally like to read answers from people that are just trying to contribute.
I am also afraid of getting labaled as an expert in some field and getting swamped with private emails. I enjoy the few I get but don't want it to become a job. I visit the forum for my enjoyment when I feel like it. I enjoy the discussions .
I want everyone regardless of their knowledge to keep trying to answer questions. I have seen some of our experts ask stupid questions that I knew the answer to like the back of my hand but I think, give them another year and they will see how stupid that question really was. But they are learning and that is what counts.
I am loosing my enthusism for the forum with this change to experts.
While I do not consider myself an expert I trust me more then anyone else.
So you see Shane I am not modest, I know me but I do not want it to become a job, I have a couple of them already, I want the forum to remain a discussion group where EVERYONE has an input.

Good intentions, but methods, ideas, and products change so fast that there is no way anyone could be considered an expert at anything. I've been in meetings where a person with no background in the particular field of discussion throws out a new idea that put the so called 'experts' to shame.
IMHO, a list such as this may keep people from asking anyone but the named 'expert' for advice. I think with a list of experts we would be more inclined to send a direct email to the 'expert' instead of posting it on the forum where everyone could chime in. At that point there'd be no reason to even have a forum....lets just dump it, and have one webpage with all the experts email and personal telephone number listed.
The last time I checked this was called a FORUM, and it is the place for like minded individuals to meet and discuss their interest and experiences. It is my belief that everyone on here has a right to chime in on any subject...not just the so called experts, and by having an 'experts' list you will reduce the significance of the FORUM. Everyone's ideas and thoughts are important.....so this is my thought on the matter!
Jack of all trades.....master of none!
