Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (75Rag)
To all the experts, answer this one: I'm planning on taking the '76 down to Bowling Green, total distance 2200 Km's. My car runs fine, is there anything I ought to be worried about? Other then the price of gas :lolg:
I'm doing the BG cruise as well, so my question is more a mathematical one. If Dwayne and I were to drive to B.G. together, would we a) be TWICE as likely to encounter mechanical problems, b) be HALF as likely to encounter mechanical problems, c) make it only as far as Casino Niagara, broke and down trodden but still able to appreciate the waitresses?
Your doing BG as well! SWEET, wait I think you mentioned that before but, perhaps take the Detroit route, and come with GHOSTRIDER, GDH, and me.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST....
This is an interesting idea. I think I've done the ol' "In my opinion blah blah blah, but ask YouKnowWho cause they have more experience" post many times. I think the list would be great for those of us that will post solutions, and want to point the original question poster toward a more reliable or venerable source. However, I don't think it would be a good resource for someone that wants to ask a question, then bothers the "expert" before making a post. If that happened then the number of posts here would dwindle to something like "where's Merlin" or "Bence, howz the BB", and there would not be the sharing of thoughts that the open forum gets.
If there was some way to "hide" the list until a post is made, i.e. a button labeled "Ask The Experts" next to the "Reply" button which only appears after a thread has been started then I'm all for it...but that would also require that the original post have like a drop down box to select the area of expertise that the question falls under. I'm not sure that this Forum software could support that.
Well, anyway...if there is such a list you can put me down for these items:
* Vette Cooling, also called: Thermostats and how to inflame the entire forum by suggesting that it be removed.
* Brakes, also called: Bureau of Automotive Repair Brake Inspection & Repair Handbook and how to get ignored by posting what I've learned from it.
* Painting, also called: How to take Daves80 suggestion instead of doing the wrong thing like I did.
And, last but not least:
* Forum Etiquette, also called: How to start popular topics like, "Horsepower vs Torque" or "Remove Your Thermostat" and still keep your respect.

Feel free to contact me regarding 75 questions. I have learned a few things about them from my frame off project (which still isn't done or driveable). There may be people more qualified then me, but looks like an open slot at least for now? I am eager to help others because of how much help I have received here. :D
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
hmmm, i dont really consider myself an expert, but u name it on a 78 and i have done it. i work on 63's to 82 kinda "on the side". i will try to help anyone and way i can, always willing to help a fellow vette owner. (unless they own a ford also) i know, i know, im closed minded, but, i work on this stuff for a livin', and if the "general" dont make it, its junk!! :banghead:

Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
I'd like to see this page evaporate: But I might be the go-to-guy
as per West System Epoxy glues for all fibreglass applications, At least I can direct you to the factory. Anyone not using West System is an idiot. JUST A PLAIN KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT EPOXY TECHNOLOGY MIGHT MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENNCE WITH YOUR CAR. Take all the tests you want, West Stystem epoxy beats all. And it is cheap. Compared to the red stuff.
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
What a great idea! I look forward to tapping into the great minds of the forum. The only thing I have to offer is how to keep sons from driving your vette! :nono: Beverly
Re: Lets make the ULTIMATE member RESOURCE LIST.... (SuperFast80)
While it's not technical, I'd be happy to serve on buying, selling and value issues.
As well as "Compartive" issues, such as how does a specific year corvette compare to contemporary competition in terms of performance, comfort, value, quality.
