WRECKED THE VETTE!!!!
Its your birthday today so i'll chalk up that statement to the fact that your smoking or drinking something wierd or both. Making any more custom cocktails out of everclear???
Did you see the post a few weeks ago that showed all types of vehicles that had driven completely over corvettes and totally smashed the passenger compartments?
I am scared to death running around nowadays with all the SUVs and fuc king dodge ram 3500 pickups which bumpers are as high as the top of our hoods.
Good thing it was just a honda. The honda probably only had a small dent.
Cali, were you wearing your seat belt? Not that i would think that that would help. Mine always seems to lock at the wrong time, like when i'm trying to put it on. It probably won't lock in a collision when you need it to.
Sounds like it was 100% their fault, so you should be in the drivers seat as far as compensation is concerned, you might be able to demand that they fix it back to the state of its original beauty. Small potatoes compared to paying for a screwed up back, if you get what i'm saying. You may be able to get another 50 -100 grand for pain and suffering.

It keeps getting worse. I'm really sorry to hear that.
I loved your Vette. Real nice. I hope it all works out for you.

All I can say is take the time to make a decision on what you want to do. Id be sick too over the whole deal. Sorry If I cant offer better words, I just feel your loss.

First off - take care of yourself. Don't worry about the car right now and don't sign anything or take any money relating to pain and suffering from an insurance company. With cracked vertebra you need to get a lawyer now if you haven't already got one. You can talk to the JAG on base as well for advise. As far as medical, my 12 years in the military has taught me one thing about dealing with flight surgeons - get a referal and see a specialist. Don't be in any hurry, this is going to take a while to get any money (other than paying for your vette). Start keeping records of medical visits, time away from work, etc. Even though you saw a flight surgeon and CHAMPUS is paying they will have to reimburse the military as well.
I went through sort of the same thing a few years ago when stationed in North Dakota. Traffic slowed to a stop on the highway and a guy in a cavalier slammed into the back of my 84 doing probably 40-50 mph. Scaring thing was I saw him coming. The vette took it suprisingly well - bent frame though. The cavalier was incredible smashed and wouldn't run. We pushed it off the side of the road. I was about 50 miles from home. I drove back home with a twisted frame and bodywork hanging on the ground. Sore as hell the next day, I went in got x-rays and luckily everything was ok. The car was totaled and I got a decent payout. Flat bed came to get it - but not before I stole as much bling-bling as I could off it (stereo, speakers, chrome, new flowmasters, MSD). I was sad to see it go but now I have the car I always wanted and most importantly I'm still healthy.
With the car you have a few options. 1. You can negotiate a price and have them cut you a check and come tow it away. You have a lot of expensive parts on there and I would swap out old stuff as best you can before they tow if. 2. Pay off, buy it back and restore. If you are going to get another C3, I would buy it back anyway from the insurance company so you can transfer all your bling-bling to another C3 and sell what's left.
Good luck with whatever you do. Hang in there, I know it looks bleak now. Bottom line, cars can be bought and sold - your health is the rest of your life.
Take care, Brian
Just a note so you will be totally prepared, if you're going to claim emotional distress (or some other type of distress-related suit), you must show how this emotional distress has personally caused you damage. Get a good lawyer, and you'll be able to buy two of any Corvette you want afterwards.
