I am having my car painted yellow right now. Everything is painted, just not re-assembled yet!!! Its been in the shop for 4 months! It looks great. The yellow is a bright, pure yellow, like a Crayola crayon. They have had it sitting in a display window out front while they have been working on it. I get a lot of compliments from people that have seen it while driving by, but I want to drive it!!! Yellow is very cool and stands out. :)
Speaking as the owner of an immaculate, 18,000-mile Black '82, I'd advise nobody to choose Black over Yellow; as others before me have stated, Black looks good..., until you're done cleaning it! It instantly looks 'dusty', whereas Yellow 'hides' the minor dust & dirt. Yellow also 'hides' flaws as well, and NO color draws attention like Yellow. Besides, Yellow was the 'featured' color in the '80 sales brochure. Besides, Black is 'dime-a-dozen', but an '80-'81 in Yellow.......

Chrome and Yellow to me was just too
YELLOW----------Black is great, but requires a lot of tender loving care, as it shows everything. If you body work is anything less than perfect, Black will expose that too. Yellow will also be a little cooler in the summer months.
C-3 Vettes look good in just about any color. It's a body style that sticks out and grabs you no matter what. These things get painted all kinds of wild colors. Be creative. Just stay away from pink or plan on wearing John Wayne underwear to prove your manhood. :D
I will give you advice and put my money where my mouth is. I have the same car and same interior. I agonized about the color. Mine was black and I live in Florida. I considered yellow, red, and silver as good alternates but just couldn't do anything but black when it came down to it. I feared I would have regrets. THe black looks awesome and classy. It looks like a cross between batmobile and a limosine. Also I didn't want it to be too flashy. It is flashy enough with the body lines and I didn't want a shocking color. Yellow has got to be one of the most eye catching colors but I wanted it more subtle. Yes, black is a btch to keep clean but to me it is worth it, and mine is a daily driver.
If you intend to drive it much, the yellow would be great. My black Vette was a dust magnet, but it looked fabulous when clean. Black would be my choice for garage art.

Re: Black or Yellow? (huffedvette)
BLACK Mean personified. It's not that tough to keep clean either. Spend 20 bucks on a California Duster and 5 bucks on a bottle of Mothers Showtime. I spend approximately 4-5 minutes each morning cleaning the car, and I constantly get compliments on how shiny it is. Let me repeat BLACK
I too will be getting paint soon. All my friends tell me to go black or blue, they say yellow isn't "tuff" enough of a color for the car. I say bull, keep it yellow - the brighter the better. Nothin' turns heads like a yellow vette. I agree with the black stripes and the limo tint though, nice look & will give a little more of a 'tude.
I'd go yellow because black costs more to paint and is harder to make look good. It shows all the flaws and you'll be cleaning it a lot more. Yellow with a black ZL1 stripe looks good :D
A lot of people can't own yellow cars,
(I have two)
My vette was originally orange, then candy apple red, (I like that) then black for 10 years and yellow when I bought it.
