interior light 77
I currently own a mid year roadster & we just purchased a 77 coupe for my wife. I have never encountered this problem before. When I open the door ( drivers or passengers) the interior light is delayed coming on for about 10 seconds. This seems odd. I know they will delay shutting off, but I hav'nt run across this before
Thoughts?
Thanks
Dave
Bad switches are another possibility but that seems unlikely that both would go out in the same way at the same time.

Thanks again

First, pull off the interior, plastic t-bar header cover. Then, pull off the left and right interior A pillar covers . Then, remove the screws at the lip of the dash that attach the upper cover to the left and right side dash covers (basically these screws run all across the top of the front dash).
Now comes the tricky part. You can do this by yourself, but it helps to have a friend's help. Or two. Push up on the middle of the upper dash pad (where the gauge cluster attaches) while pushing down on the outer edges. Then, simultaneously lift up and out. Basically, you're trying to make the outer edges of the dash pad clear the A-pillars. Putting it back is the reverse of taking it out. Not too bad at all.
Just be gentle, as the plastic frame of the upper dash pad can be brittle. If you have a mishap, some 2 part epoxy will do wonders to piece it back together. Heck, while you have it out, I suggest repainting it with the proper vinyl dye. Also, replacing the front speakers and instrument cluster bulbs is not a bad idea.
Okay, so now the upper dash pad is off. On the driver's side, you'll see a silver cannister. This is the interior light relay. Pull it out and put in the new one.
Welcome to the '77 club. My 77 was my first Vette, and I love it.
