Oliver,
Did you have any concerns about not being able to locate fallen parts quickly on the black paint? I'm planning to do my garage (a wide-3 car garage,) but since I do so much tinkering, and I have hands like bricks (I'm a drummer -- no finger independence!) I tend to drop screws and bolts.
I plan to do the floor in light gray so I can find the stuff I drop...unless you say that you can still find oily bolts on the floor on the black.
i'm planning on doing the same thing. One I have 2 months of painting the inside of the house first. Then i'm spakling the walls and putting a semi-gloss white over the walls and ceiling after which i'll do the squares. Should look nice. one problem I first have to figure out is a pulleyt system to suspend the hard top over the Vette to allow me to raise and lower the hard top by myself. Yeah I know there are motorized kits but I'm making my own. 2 two by fours bolted into the studs above with three pulleys fore and aft with pipe insulation around the lifting straps. the 3rd pulley will tie the 2 main lpulleys into the lifting line which will use a sailboat non-slip chock to hold the hard tops weight. Once that's built I can start painting.
