Wow, after reading some of the replies to this thread, I am absolutely astonished! I participate, and have posted, in every generation section on the forum and just can't believe this type of attitude exists (especially in the C3 section!) Normally the C5 owners take the brunt of the ribbing in every section (except of course the C5 section) because "they are not real Corvette people, they don't wave, etc." (or at least they are often portrayed that way). Now we have C3 owners turning on C1/C2 owners??? I just can't believe it. What's the next thread to start here? "C4 owners are no help to C3 owners because they have fuel injection and larger tires"? Geeeeeesh, I just can't believe it! :nonod:

At some point you have to ask the basic question: is this a Corvette Forum or a chat room to discuss the merits of a young woman's butt end? Note the number of lurkers.

I too am shocked to hear that a few of us see perceive such big differences between owners & attitudes of Corvette generations. I like 'em all -- tho' it takes some effort to get excited about any of them before 56/57, but that's just me. Heck, C2s and C3s are, as they say, sisters under the skirt, with just styling differences between them. The truly big difference at this point in time is that C2s cost a freaking fortune to buy, which leads a lot of owners reluctant to modify them. The Cult of Originality is keeping a lot of neat solid-axle and midyear Vettes in garages and on trailers. You C3 owners are lucky that you can have fun and not worry about crunching a $40-50K (or more) Vette. Later on the free market will catch up with you happy band of brothers and you'll park 'em all and keep 'em on trailers like all too many C2 owners do (no me, my 67 droptop is in regular service, and has been modified here and there). Then the C4 and C5 guys will point out how stuffy and stuck on originality all the C3 owners are!

We're all the same. We all love Vettes. We just own different years. Big deal. :chill:

You don't hang in the C2 area too much if you haven't read threads from vetterodder, 427hotrod, me, and others. We have C2 cars, but have strayed from the straight path. 540CID, 490CID, non stock C2 people, with vetterodder and 427hotrod knowing more about vettes/cars/racing than most people on any forum. 427hotrod has a true 10 second car, all throttle, no NO2, no automatic. We are treated well. There are different feelings about these cars, we might be considered horses to some for changing alot, they keep their cars stock to NCRS correct, but we all realize we have a genuine love for these cars. They have their way, we have ours. We have a wide variety of people, but all are so willing to share what they know. C5 people on the other hand........... With a fat **** like that on my car I'd be upset most of the time too. And I didn't use the word horses, but my word kinda sounds like it. You figure it out.

I hang out (lurking mostly) in all of the sections, but have posted in all sections whenever i had anything to say which i though would remotely be of some nominal value to someone. I used to be a C4 owner and even then i posted frequently in the C1-2 section, with no ill feelings gathered from any of the replies, and if there ever were, so be it-it's a forum and people tend to speak their mind more so than if they were face to face. I also believe that sometimes things can be taken wrong (or for more than face value) when reading typed text, rather than talking. I dont remember ever getting frosted up with someone except for when i was in OT, and even then, ya gotta remember where you're at-- OT---- and enter at your own risk.
I have never been made to feel unwelcome in any C-generation section even though i own only the C2 now, and would apologize to anyone if i have ever made them feel that way. Just as an observation from a reader rather than a post-er most of the time, i do feel that sometimes the C4-C5 debate sometimes seems a little childish, and who cares if someone does'nt wave- I wave anyway! Hey- I like 'em all, no matter what year they are or who's driving them, i still like em all. And if the person that's driving it, turns out to be a jewel, then i consider that a bonus. It just so happens that i can only afford one toy, but that doesn't keep me from wanting one of each!
I hope i continue to be welcome here, as there is much i would like to learn about all the generations (just in case i am ever able to afford one of all of them), but i wont hold my breath till that happens.
