I have seen the pickup commercials but apparently this engine is going into a new Charger RWD car. Anyone know the specs on this engine? It looks like it has serious potential if you believe the Chrysler hype.
Chrysler is really working the hemi thing. From what i understand you don't want a hemispherical combustion chamber. The chevy design is much better providing combustion chamber quench.

hemi=bullcrap
Speaking from personal experience? Doubt it. My best friend has a 426 Charger that would kill you or me in any gear. BTW it's stock.

The "sphere" shaped combustion chamber is THE most perfect design. The Hemi makes a lot of power due to this fact alone. The way it was achieved was by putting the spark plug in the center of the chamber.
The Chevrolet heads cannot come close to being better than this design.
The Hemi is a decent engine, but they aren't perfect. The domed pistons are heavier than flat tops, and to meet emissions they require 2 sparkplugs to make up for lack of swirl. There is a reason that most of the pro-stockers run a wedge style engine. Also the same size Z06 engine is 400+ hp

Re: New Dodge Hemi (turtlevette)
When I hear Hemi there's only one engine that comes to mind....the stump pulling torque monster 426. I think this hemi is a 392 or 349....much like some of the very first SB hemi's.
they'll never make another 426. Chrysler is playing on nostalgia.
The radio station I listen to here in Detriot area is building a 70 Roadrunner for the Childrens Leukemia Fondation and they were given the new Hemi to put in it. 610HP-650ft/lbs torque http://www.wcsx.com/jox/jjl/2003_01stonesoup.asp
Last year they built a Mustang and next year they want to do a GM-know of any Vettes out there someone would want to donate?
I just bought one. ('04 Ram) NOTHING LIKE IT! :thumbs: IT's 345 Cubic Inches (5.7L), 345 HP, 390 ft lbs of torq. IT HAULS!!! Hemi's are one of the best designed V-8's going. :cheers:
You should compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. New Hemi = truck engine. Ls1 = sport car engine. Another remarkable engine is the 2.4L engine the srt-4 has, and the times they are able to post.

That's a crate engine they put in there. Not quite the same engine Dodge & Chrysler are using today. Not even close.

Every time I hear chrysler hype up the hemi I just laugh any more :lol: , If you work on engines for a living you'll see that a lot of these little four bangers and V6's have been running hemispherical chambers for years. Chrysler didn't bring back the hemi, they only brought back the hemi label.
