When you view it, the forum software says "My maximum is 600 pixels wide."
"Show this photograph AS IF it was 600 pixels wide.)
The photo is still 150k in size. The photo is *still* 1024x768. What is happening here, is the software is just displaying it with a maximum pixel width.
So it doesnt actually change the size of the image.
It just looks like it did because it "squeezes" (without modifying) the image into the maximum forum dimensions.
I've only owned two. I really like the picture quality of my Olympus 2.1 Camedia. Things to look for in a digital camera is the best optical lense. Camera that have 3-4 or even more optical zoom with the larger lenses are best. The olympus was movies without sound
I now own a Minolta 4 mp I paided allot more for the movies with sound function.
I'm very happy with my Canon A70, 3.2 MP. It has a fairly good lens (for a consumer camera), and a good optical zoom. It also has a fully automatic mode where it is point-and-shoot, or I can switch it to a number of manual modes that let me set shutter speed, focus, flash strength, white balance, etc. It uses 4 AA batteries which is a good thing. Many cameras use only 2 and that shortens battery life. I bought a good charger and two sets of 2100 mAh NiMH batteries. You do want rechargable batteries because they don't last all that long before drained.
Good point Zwede, 4AA batteries is the only way to go. I can shoot 150 pictures on my 128 meg card and not have to change the bateries. also the flash recharges faster for shot after shot without much delay.
Best bang for the buck- Kodak 5 M/P........

I've got an expensive Nikon 6 M/P that I use in my business, and my friend's cheap Kodak 5 M/P kicks it's butt! Plus it takes movies!
