Reason: needed addition of words to description of problem
there should be some bolts that you have to tighten up ,,i had a chevy van that did this and it is dangerous(my mechanic tighened them up for me so i really dont know exactly where there located-someware on the column) if they loosten too much , tighten them up or get them tightened!!

Interesting.... be careful.
It was my understanding when the column is loose that the bearings are failing and the integrity of the steering system is at risk.
I have the same issure with mine....

First, make sure that your steering column is mounted properly in your car. There are two vertical bolts right under the dash and the two nuts (down on the floor pan by your feet). Rock the steering column by the steering wheel, inspect the connections and make sure that they are tight. So now you know that the problem is in the steering column and not just loose connections.
The following link will take you to a paper that describes some quick and simple tests that you can perform on your T&T steering column to determine the source of your looseness, lash, rattle, etc.
There are a series of papers, pictures, blowups, and steering wheel information that is posted at the www.corvettefaq.com websight. Between the papers and this forum you should be able to fix your problem.
There are no other complete GM steering columns that will interchange into your 1975.
Vette T&T columns from 1969 through 1976 will bolt right into your 75.
Parts from Cadillac and Oldsmobile T&T columns from the 1969 - 78 era (i.e. round head without the dimmer bulge on the left side) can supply parts for the head portion of your steering column. The tubular part of your steering column (i.e. jacket, shift tube, and steering shaft) are all unique to the Corvette.
The lower part, called the support, is bolted to the tubular part of the steering column and is nearest the instrument cluster. It is the same for all tilt and T&T columns from 1969 through 1982.
The upper part (that actually tilts) is unique to T&T columns and should be the same for T&T columns of that era.
I might suggest that you download this steering column blowup picture. It will help to identify the pieces. For instance, the lower part is #49 Bearing Housing Support. The tilting part is #24 Bearing Housing.
