Right Place, right Time, right price. However I don't know if the deal would have done if it was anything newer. I just love the rear chrome bumper cars.
the teenage boys and girls say it best " hey mister cool car..."
and everyone who sees it looks twice and smiles
You've got it! The number of comments that I got with my '80 like this always amazed me. It didn't matter that it had less power than my Saturn.
The best complement came from my son, who doesn't really care for cars (he can't be mine, but I digress). He asked me to keep it so he can drive it to school when he's sixteen.
1st Gen: To elusive and dated. $$$
C2: Nice but not sharp enough for me. $$
C4: A step back in style. I believe it's referred to as a "wedge". I agree. $
C5: Never liked that back and I wouldn't have any fun working on it. $$
C6: A step back in style. Pop-up lights are a must. $$$
Conclusion: C3 is the cheapest, hottest, and most easily modifiable Corvette in existance -- again, in my opinion.
..... and I believe that most here will agree.
I might, might, get a C5 "someday", but that'd only be as a dry-day driver/weekend get-away toy, and a nasty C1 hot-rod would be nice, too, but the C3 is visually the best-looking car built.....
Another Forum-member recently said it looks like "sex on wheels", and that might be the best assessment yet of the C3, even the 'lowly rubber-bumper cars'.
Came to the US in '75 so my memories are of the C3's being the coolest car growing up (with the Thunderchicken T/A being a close second).
Had mine since '93 and I doubt it will ever be sold.
Came back to the U.S. after working for LBJ in a far away land to the 1973 C3, fell in love with that car!
Or was that Tricky Dick?..I don't know, the A'holes all fade into one in the 70's. But the C3 was sweet!
Come now...the whole Idea of the C3 is that I fit!..I've had a 68 427, a 59 327, an 85 350 and my 73 C3 LT1, I'm 6'4" and 225 and I fit, just get one with T-tops dude!
Speaking as someone who was a kid during the 70's, sharks were the car you dreamed about. By far the best looking Vette out of all 6 generations. Even if the power dropped after '71 I will always go to the sharks first.
I don't think they are the cheapest to buy anymore. We got my wife an early C4 (1985) for only $7,500. I'm seeing a lot more sharks go for $10K or more. (At least in NJ that is)

This is so true C-4's are dropping in price
to the C-3 range there is a 91 down the
street from me for $9000.00 nice one to
The first sports car I ever rode in was a green 1970/71 Corvette Stingray. We didnt call them corvettes when I was 10, we called them "Stingrays" It made such a lasting impression on me with the shape, that this was the car I wanted to own. I did not even know any other Corvette shape until later on when I became a teenager and started noticing cars. My first Vette was a 1978 Silver Anniversary. It was nice, but just not the style that I remembered in that first Corvette ride. I know own a 1973 that is more of the Stingray that I remember from my childhood.
