You guys aren't breathing the air that causes this corrosion, are you??

I went with high temp white paint about 25 years ago on my headers. It's really tough and held up well over the years. I'll be transferring the same headers to my new engine...(at least initially).

My experience with Hookers has been that the factory coatings are a joke. However, they work and fit really well, so I pretty much always sell them to my customers and get them cleaned and coated when they're new. Besides, they were the only manufaturer of headers for my BOSS 302 and the 'vair

I had mine blasted by a place called AMC (Atlantic Metal Coating)
They have a monster oven because they blast and paint a lot of stuff including:

1)Ship parts
2)Oil Rig parts
3)Propane tanks, the house 3ftX5ft ones

....etc,....etc.

Charged me $300 for blasting with the special particles and painting and baking.
I bought 18 tins of paint at over ten bucks a pop Canadian, they used 14 of them, two white and two clear left over. I need a few more black
to respray the headers that are sticking out of the side of the car.

I must say, the paint is holding up well with no blistering!

When I bought my Holley coated headers I thought the coating was junk to but as I used mothers wheel polish every 3 months the imperfections are all about gone and I think as long as you keep them clean they will last. Yes polishing sucks ****.

ok heres the update ...painted one header let dry 60 mins per instructions...built a "fume hood " around the oven with tyvek wrap that was laying aroung the garage ..took the filter out of the externally vented microwave hood and slipped in one header and cranked the heat up to 550 degrees... thats as hot as i could get the oven to go.... turned external vent on high and cooked away for 1.5 hrs... when i peaked in the fume hood it was pouring out smoke but none got into the house... so tonight i do the other one....the instructions said 650 degrees for 1 hr but couldn't get that high hope my heat was sufficient....
