I HAVE 390'S IN MY 71.WHAT ABOUT TIRE SIZES? I'M RUNNING A 275.I AM THINKING ABOUT CHANGING TO 336'S TO HAVE BETTER HWY. DRIVING AND TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD WHEN I STEP ON IT.WITH A BIG-BLOCK,IT GETS KIND OF TRICKY.

Firsy of all, let me say that I am not George. He turned me on to this site and I want to respond to the question. I am in the last day of a frame-off on my 72. It was a base 350 auto when I bought it in 75. It is now a F.I. 383 wit a RG 6spd. I put in a 3.08. The first four gears will be like having a 4.56. At 70, it will be turning under 1700! Best of all worlds! I built it for fuel mileage, AND going out of state. I cant wait to get in and slip it in gear for the very first time!

I have the stock 3.55's in my 79. Kinda a nice compromise between 1/4 mile draggin and long trips. Maybe a six speed in my future sometime.

I have 3.36. Sits on about 2500 at 65MPH. Takes a little while to wind up but I don't know any better so I like it. I would not like a 4.11 and have to be doing over 3000RPM on the interstate.
