[QUOTE=mcnulty95 I love well maintained, low milage garage queens! They allow me to buy a Vette that's like new for a third of the price.

.....not always. I have been trying to sell my 23k mile Z06 for a while & cannot get what I want. Guess what...it stays in the garage. I wont sell it to someone looking for the deal of the century. The Z06 was a $50,000. car. You'll probably never get one for a third of the price, which would be around $16,500.....especially one with super low miles.

Thats just an example....IMO its the same for any year or generation Vette. Theres a lot of guys out there with the same reasoning. Why give away a nice low mile car? If I do that, it will go to my son when he gets out of the Marine Corps.

Things will get to a point where condition is the main selling factor although low miles are desirable.. I have plenty of miles racked up but Ill be damned if Im gonna sell it for the same price as a weathered beater just becuase one of similar or less mileage sold for XXX on Ebay.

I bought mine to drive it... Having said that, I've seen C5 Z06's being driven to where I work that drive all year (including -40 C, 3ft of snow) down 10 km of gravel to the worksite. These guys take "driving" to a new level. They maybe wash the cars once a month, and they bag the he77 outta them (I've seen them doing donuts on the gravel).

Like I stated above - I bought mine to drive it - but this level of neglect goes above and beyond in my opinion...

Not something I would do - but hey - to each his own, I guess.

Yes there is a guy with a black C6 coupe that is always caked with dirt on it. He parks near my job. I understand that black cars are harder to keep clean looking but this is bad. The Vette has a local dealer`s plates on it so I dont know if he is just driving the car and doesnt actually own it or what.

He doest give a **** about that Vette thats for sure. At least wash it once a month or something.

That's a very good point. I don't think I'm stereotyping them, some people just take alot of car with their car, be it a Corvette or a Mustang etc.

Hmmm, "Republicans for Obama", I'll bet it doesn't take long to arrange the chairs for that meeting! (Now back to your regularly scheduled thread!)

Dont worry, most of use dont want to buy a garage queen anyway. It just means that as soon as we start driving it on a regular basis its going to need more maintainece.

You might be suprised.

Some are worried about the Republican Party others may be more concerned about our Country.

Everybody is different in this hobby. All of my cars are always extremely clean getting washed once or twice a week although there are times when I'm traveling in rain etc, that they get pretty dirty.

Maintenance and car washing takes time. I've had Corvettes now for 10 years. All 3 have never seen a car wash and I've never paid someone to wash them for me. That means that I have logged some serious time in washing my cars. I ran the numbers on my 1 corvette and it was like a 40 hour job for 2 months. Some people just don't get enjoyment out of washing & waxing - they would rather be driving their Corvette or doing something else with their time.

In regards to Corvette Ownership, some people have limited financial resources and have to let their cars condition slip - EG. Weatherstripping kit - some people just don't want to fork over the bones to fix it - they live with cracked weatherstrip.

I do feel badly when I see a neglected one but I'm sure the owner could care less - they just enjoy driving their Corvette. After all, the driving experience is similar in a Corvette with a $10,000 paint job or one with a $500 Earl Scheib Job

The younger owners usually buy all they can afford. When it comes to deciding weatherstrip or school clothes it's not that hard a decision (especially if you have a wife making it for you! )

Pretty funny!

Is this what you would call an oxymoron?

When you get tired of seeing all the neglected junk out there loaded with Chinese made speed equipment (Manley, Eagle, etc.) just go to a good Corvette show and look at all the nice NCRS stuff that other folks have proudly put together.

Soooo, you are serious? Now you've got me worrying about the Republican Party too! (they're the party I usually vote for to vote against the other party!)

I bought my 92 just as a daily driver. With 165K it wasn't much more than that, and I didn't expect more than that.

But even through it's was only meant to be a DD, the longer I own it I find myself taking better and better care of her. It's a pride thing I think. She now has an excellent paint job and looks great on the outside. I want to keep her clean and nice looking. The result is that people look and admire a nice looking Vette, when deep down it could still use some work.

There should be a law passed that anyone who voted for that shouldnt be allowed to even bring up politics for at least 8 years. Stay in the corner with a dunce cap on. The adults will handle things from here on out.

I wont let the thread be highjacked any further. Proceed.
