I see so many corvette owners who complety neglect their cars. Whats funny, it seems to me that its more of the C5, C6 owners than C4 or below. Just the other day I was parked and a black C6 ZO6 parked next to me, it was filtfy as if he took it off-roading. I was shocked. If I owned a machine like a ZO6, I would take awsome care of it. Anyone else see such neglect?
That kind of care makes me nutz!! I am a bit fanatical & dont expect others to be exactly the same, but when I see Vettes looking so bad it almost hurts. Mostly in my area, its C4's. Theres a couple around here that are just jacked up. Its like the new redneck mobile. Many times it reminds me of the guys who used to be driving shackled up 70's era Z28's & Trans-Ams. Its a shame in any case.
how can you call driving your car in bad weather neglect? I drive my 94 year round. and its hard to keep my car clean in the winter with all the salt and such. but in the warmer months its mostly spotless. but as other things that go bad on my car I fix them right away. Its a car people.
Alot of people don't share the same Corvette passion that we do, and therefor treat it just as a means of transportation. In my eyes it's sad to see Corvettes like that, but to each his own.

Couldn't agree more. Make your Corvette a daily driver through the winter and then talk to me about keeping her clean. Not trying to be rude, just saying...

EXACTLY! The guy's car was probably filthy because he had been driving it.
C4 or C6...it's a car...to be driven and enjoyed.
The folks who don't drive these wonderful vehicles so their C4 will be worth $500 more when they sell it are p*ssing away a whole bunch of enjoyment. The fun you can have is worth way more than the, frankly, paltry monetary value.
I don't neglect mine but I do drive them year round no matter if it's raining or not and they do get dirty. I have little time to wash and wax them. When I do, they usually shine up pretty good.

duh, maybe it is their passion to get the thing out and drive it, damn the weather. Your comment is a bad case of stereotyping. But then, that is just my nickel's worth, to each their own I guess.
Attend a show like Bloomington Gold where you will see literally hundreds of pampered cars lovingly cared for or restored by passionate and dedicated owners and it will immediately lift your spirits. I do Bloominton Gold, Carlisle and Knoxville every year and it always renews my passion for vintage factory original Corvettes in mint condition.

A black car is one of the worst for showing dirt.. Just driving any distance on most highways and you will pick up a ton of dust, not to mention if you travel a dirt road..If you want a spotless car, keep it in the garage under a cover..I drive a dirt road to a friends, but usually when I get home it gets a good clean.. Just my opinion.. LOL

My C4 is my only car. It's either drive it every day, thru the weather, on errands, etc., or not drive one at all. With family obligations, I can't really afford a second car just for me.
I'm just as passionate about my Corvette as any enthusiast, but I just don't have time to wash the mud and slush residue off every evening in the garage after work, although in dry weather I'm usually able to keep it pretty shiny.
Gotta agree with this. I mean my car still looks like this on the weekends but I drive her every day man and it rains here a lot. Also please try to a be a bit more tolerant. My vette isn't just a means of transportation. I work 50 - 60 hours a week and let me tell you twice a day for an hour that vette is the best self analysis couch going
I am also a fanatic about my vehicles and there are some days when I even tell myself...D@MN my ride is dirty. It mostly happens to my Escalade but my C4 saw some made days too.
I love well maintained, low milage garage queens! They allow me to buy a Vette that's like new for a third of the price.
I'm fortunate to have another car to drive in the winter, so my Vette sits for about four months a year. I keep it pretty clean and well maintained, but drive the heck out of it the other eight months of the year. That's why I bought it, to drive and enjoy it.
Heres how I see it. MANY C6s are leased. These are mid life crisis car owners. (Thats why they dont wave, they think you mistaken them for someone else). Its a chick magnet and little more and in two to three years they will be back in their Lexus if not sooner. Perfect example is a friend of mine. In her 50s her New husband bought her a prime C5. I tried to explain to her future daughter in law who I know well about the wave. Do you think this car will be shined and waxed? Do you think the wave will be exchanged? Many of us will be driving many of these cars several years down the road, as we try and undo the damage and abuse of neglect these Corvettes received maintenance wise.
Now you have let the monkey out of the bag. Folks buy Corvettes for many different reasons. There are all kinds of different attitudes that range from those of the new Corvette buyer (gold chains) on down to the entry level cars (budget hotrods, where C4 is now) and back up through the ranks of the historians interested in restoring and preserving the heritage of the classics (NCRS). There are many different ways to enjoy Corvette ownership and they don't all revolve around quarter mile time slips or whether or not it will melt in the rain while you drive the wheels off them.
