Why C4 over C5???
I love all corvettes.
I own the early C4 because it is the corvette that I loved the most when I was at the age to have the most passion for corvettes.
The C4 came out in 1984, I was in the navy.
Those early C4s were always the car I wanted even more than the C3which I grew up loving.
I still feel the thrill and passion; of a time, when I was a younger man.
It is enough for me.

I still like the look of the c-4. Ive heard the designers of the newer corvettes mention that they just kept chopping and chopping off the back for better aerodynamics but thats the weak point of the looks.
I like to pay cash for my stuff so its C4 for me.

The rule of thumb that I had heard (and agree with) is if you are in the market for a Vette, go with the newest model that you can afford. When I bought my 92 several years ago, it was the newest that I could afford.
I had never been too fond of the C4, but after owning mine for a few years now, I love it - and it grows on me more each time I drive it. I like the cockpit feel, and the sleek, somewhat un-assuming bodystyle. I still like the C5, but not enough to get rid of my C4 and take a big hit in the pocketbook... Maybe in a few years when the C5 prices drop more...

Can't say I agree with that. Took my bone stock 01 6sp to the track yesterday. I'm by far an expert in racing a 6 speed but I ran an 13.1 @110 mph with no speed shifting and launching at 1800 rpm.
Below are the times for both my C4 & C5

Wanted a hobby car. I got a 94 C4 for under 10k and can afford to mod it. Even with decent mods it is cheaper than a C5.
I kinda like the crawl in and how she rides. Its fun for a weekend car.

I loved the C5 troll that posted that yellow thing earlier. And supercharged as well!!Whoop de do.
I love my C4 and will never part with it.I've looked at later one's and they just don't do anything for me except remind me of my days in the West Indies. That big rear end.But the wife gave me so much grief I broke down and bought something similar to a C5 with four seats, just as quick and handles maybe a little better. You can't imagine how many C5's I've pissed off.Mine has a blower as well.

I always wanted a C4. I grew up with my dad's '84 in the garage and I loved the shape. Besides, my ZR-1 was ALWAYS my dream car growing up. I could have had a C5, but the ZR-1 was what I always dreamed about, so it was an easy choice.
Besides, with my wife's C6 and my ZR-1, we don't have room for a C5.

I found "the love of my life" (next to a '63 coupe) and like a good woman, we're prolly mated for life!

As far as cars go, this has been a dream come true. I really like the C6s, but I wouldn't take one in trade!

My technical abilities [still learning]have not yet caught up to C-5/C-6 level. So even though C-4 can be a repair PIA
as have been most Vettes it's not beyond me! After almost 40 years of doing own Vette repairs it's hard to change.
Was ready to buy new C-6 until sales people refused to talk to me!!

The interior of a C4 feels more like a sports car. I had a 93 that I traded in on an 01 Z06. The base C5 coupe felt the same as my 93 when it came to accelleration. The Z06 is a totally different animal...much more powerful feel to it (not just the motor...transmission is a big part of the thrill of driving a Z06, the gearing internally is different). I traded in my beloved Z06 in August on a 07 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. This decision was made due to my wife and I looking to adopt a child. When my parents and my wife's parents (they became best friends after we were married) were killed in a tractor trailer accident at the end of October, I started looking for another Vette. Originally, I was going to look at another C5 or a C6. I was figuring on buying one and modifying it for drag racing. But, I was given a hell of a deal on my 86 ($ 3800, interior was trash, but was a great foundation). To make a C5 or C6 get into the 10's (my goal), I was looking at adding $ 20,000 in mods to do it right. Well, the 86 I picked up for pennies, with $ 20,000 thrown into the motor and driveline, I will have a Corvette that will be in the 10's without the starting price of $ 25,000 to $ 40,000. As for which one is better, C4 vs. C5, in my opinion, it is just a personal preference. Every Corvette is great.
