speeding ticket

Now this is your second post of the thread:
(grammatical and spelling errors corrected for free
)Funny thing to me about it is that you "had complete control". You know you did. I know you did. Everyone else here probably knows you did. I also had complete control when I did a U-turn on a slick street (at a light).......that is, until I was facing oncoming traffic. It is amazing how fast these cars can "get out from under you". everybody has complete control of their car until it gets away from them ......then....... all Hell breaks loose.
I'm not bashing you for driving faster than the speed limit. It just seems like you don't want to own up to a mistake. $150 probably is not that bad anymore. I personally do not go much faster than the speed limit in my vette (yes, I do drive it a bit faster than my other vehicles), and 82 in a 55 isn't bad (glad you didn't get hit harder than you did for it). I believe "criminal speed" in Texas is 100+. Many years ago I had an LEO write me up for 98 (instead of the 117 he clocked me at) on my bike late at night because I was very nice to him, traffic wasn't heavy and he was "to busy for the paperwork involved".
I will have to agree with Gregm999.........a radar detector is cheap compared to what you had to pay for this one (might save you from the next one).
BTW.......
1st..........In my other vehicles.........I drive 60 mph, no faster. Even in West Texas where the speed limit is 80 mph (gas mileage dictates that speed).
2nd.........might be a wise thing to listen to those of us who have a "pair" that are twice your age. Good reason ours have been around that long (and it isn't just luck).
G'day and be safe.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. nothing to do with the revenue comment, but if you think 82 is fast you need to get off the road and stay in bed and the nice nurse will take care of you.

slow car? im confused what you are talking about.
but compaired to 90% of the vehicles on the highway I'd like to think its a fast car even completely stock like it is.

This is what I do!!!Police officers who sit on the side of the highway with their radar guns are needlessly putting their life in danger for a few bucks. It's not right.

My ticketing officer was on the left side of the highway and standing behind his car and motioned for me to pull over in front of his. Now I was taught in drivers ed. to never pull over on the left unless its an emergency because the left lane moves fastest making the danger level in the left break down lane higher than the right side. (i went where the officer motioned to on left then preceded to reverse to his car as he motioned me backward to do so) with all this said yes i was going 82 in the fast lane on a 3 lane highway nothing to out of the ordinary anywhere in the country but the cop made me do all of the story i just said. who was being most dangerous?
Driving the speed limit and setting a good example for my young children keeps me at 5 to 10 over the posted limit. Painfull as it is...
"Take it to the track"... Yeeeaaaaahhhhh...That's good advise, but for someone to say that, IMO, is "auto delusional" at best, and dishonest in fact: every one of those with condescending comments/admonishments are guilty of exceeding at some point. Some even admit to 5 to 10 over: That makes them "speeders". Just where are these tracks anyway??? How accessible are they to the general public? What does it cost?
One should never go faster than "conditions allow"; on that I strongly agree. However, does a posted speed limit consider a particular type of vehicle? Apparently, in this country it is (currently) impractical(?) to have a different limit according to vehicle...Or is it? Why is there a speed limit on Nevada and New Mexico highways and yet it is OK to run 200+ on the same roads during certain events such as the "Silver State rallies"?
OK, in order to run "wide open" in those events, the vehicle must pass inspection and meet certain requirements; "conditions", is my point. If the "conditions" allow, speeds in excess of a standardized posted limit can be achieved w/o posing a hazard to self or others. (Believe me, a Dodge mini-van with factory issue tires is NOT going meet "conditions" for a 200 mph run, even if it could.
Some years ago, there was a piece on a TV program (20/20, I wanna say) where John Stossle(?) did a piece on the Lamborghini Diablo - took a ride with a factory test driver. According to the report, these designated drivers have been given a pass to test drive these "super cars" on public roads at speeds well in excess of the limits imposed on mortal men (and women!). There were some shots where they were absolutely flying down narrow 2-lane roads, passing cars and farmers with tractors like they were frozen in place!
So, here's what I think (for what that is worth
):Speed limits are the law. So, if you exceed the limit, be prepared to suffer the consequences.
Posted speed limits (55, 65, etc) are irrelevant to the vehicle or conditions. Therefore "conditions" (with all things considered, including the vehicle) the practical (safe) speed limit for a performance car (e.g. a Vette) and a 1/2 ton pickup with a 6" lift kit and bald tires - are entirely different and should be considered!
There should be designated roads and times set aside where (we) can let our horses loose w/o posing a threat to the general public.
In the mean time, it pays to be discrete. You won't get any condescending comments from me for doing "82" (or twice that, if ya can!) on a 55 if conditions are "right". Hey, I have "Z" rated (W, acutally) tires on my Vette. How many of those wagging their finger atcha have Z rated tires on their cars that have never seen a track??? MOST, I'd bet!!!
Anyway...Just be damn careful nobody else is around (to run into...or watching) when horsing around. Otherwise, the posted limit is the mark and it is good (Vette) diplomacy too.

I went to college at Northeastern, so I'm very familiar with Mass traffic laws, Mass Pike, 128 495 93 etc...
You may be very lucky-the last time I checked Mass DOES NOT RECIPROCATE regarding traffic tickets-what happens in Mass, stays in Mass, if you pay the ticket! Happy Friggin Brithday my friend.
I return to Boston at least once a year, and the ave speed in the left lane on the Pike is 85mph + so a 2005 Honda 4door (my mule) IMO will not get stopped here when a vette will.
FAST COP: if you were the dude in the SC State Police Tahoe on Route 95 in February, who let me pass at 82 in a 65, THANK YOU VERY MUCH I'd like to buy you a keg or 2 of your favorite

Then about a week later, I take a ride on my bike over CO rt. 2, riding west over the "Flat Irons". The posted limit was a ridiculous 15 mph on the downhill side. The road, albeit filled with curves, was new and wide, the weather was perfect, but I'll be damned if I was going to go over 15. Guess what happens next?
In about 5 minutes time I was in front of a long caravan of cars and trucks - people blowing their horns and making "gestures". When I reach the valley floor a cop comes out of a parking lot and pulls me over. He's going to give me a ticket (for impeding traffic or some such thing), and I go off on him about being ticketed for exceeding and now for doing the limit. His response was (in effect) that I needed to use some common sense about it. That subjective interpretation crap really got me...
So, either ticket everybody going over the limit or don't ticket anybody. This damned if you do and damned if you don't "game" is F'n BS and has more to do with revenue gathering than safety. I told him so and my LEO brother and son as well.
Anywayz.... It pisses me off all over again to think about it. Sorry for the rant!
P.
