What head unit, what year C4, etc? Fill out your profile, it'll help a bit. But still, what head unit? I got a JVC-KD NX5000 in my '85, but if you're trying to get an Avic into a late C4, it's not worth getting the pictures.

What's wrong with an AVIC in a late c4? I'm planning to go the AVIC-Z2 route in my 96 this summer, and was just curious...

Absolutely nothing, it's an amazing head unit.

I was just asking which setup he wanted pictures of. The photos above show an AVIC in a late model C4. Unfortunately there is almost no way to make that work in an early model C4. So posting pictures of my early model C4 with a single-DINN JVC KD-NX5000 wouldn't do him much good since it's so different.

Default Manual To Auto Temp Control

Just a side question. Anyone know how easy it would be to change the manual air conditioning controls to the qutomatic ones as depicted in the photo below. I sure hate twiddling with the tempature control while driving. Is all of the factory wiring in place...or do I have to change something on the harness?

I am going to make this a new post.

The pioneer wont fit. I wanted to put one in my '85, but you'll have to move either your DIC or your A/C controls and fabricate a larger opening in the dash. You'd probably also have to fabricate a new mounting bracket.

That's why I asked earlier, what year Vette it was. Here's an install I did in my '85:

Yes, it's dirty in that picture. The car was put into the shop, and I haven't taken new pictures since. I need to get some after I've got it all cleaned up.

How good does the navigation work on that model? I've been looking to put one in my camaro which has the 1.5 din opening.

I do have one complaint with it so far. Well, two.

First, my Vette didn't have a VSS, so I had to buy the speed pulse generator. That's been working fairly well, but it took a while to get working right.

Second, and most importantly, the directions are too quiet. Even if I turn the volume up all the way on the voice direction menu. The problem is no matter what you choose for an option regarding your music (volume down, mute, etc), it only does it for the front speakers. So if you're like me, you've got your music fully balanced around the drivers seat. This means I've got most of the music going to the 6x9's in the back, which means I can't hear Dorthy (that's what I call my GPS's voice) over the music. I'm gonna get on the horn with JVC once I get my Vette back and see if there's a way to fix that, because otherwise the voice directions are useless to me, unless I have the music off.

Otherwise it's a GREAT system. Loud, clear, etc. The DVD's play very well while driving. At least that's what my passengers say. The ipod adapter works most excellent, and my favorite feature, the bluetooth adapter, is absolutely phenomenal.

I have the Pioneer AVIC D3 in my '91 and love it. I strongly advise you to add the ipod adapter and bluetooth, if you have those options. The
setup really brings the C4 up to modern driving style. Most states are
passing hands free cell phone laws anyway. One ticket would pay for the option. Gary

Single DIN flip outs have the advantage of putting the screen up high for easier viewing and access. No complaints with my Kenwood.
