LOL - some things never change! I've recently got back into a Vette after 35 years and we used to have these same discussions "back then". Those damn stuck up C-3 drivers were oblivious to the waves from those of us in C1's and C2's. Of course back then the "C-whatever" designation had not been invented, but it was the bankers and lawyers in the newest Vettes who most often did not wave.
As a side note, when I finally got my C4 last month, my wife thought I was nuts as the first two Vettes we met did not return my wave. Only when some DID wave did she believe me!
I don't initiate waves, but I'll always return one.
Young C6 drivers often lease their cars. They're not into the hobby and don't share our passion for ownership. Leased Vettes are usually the ones you see driven in snow and salt.

I think the wave started with the very early Corvettes in the fifties because I remember reading about it in Corvette News whihc was apublication you received free in the old days from GM when you bought a Corvette. Joe Pike was the editor and there were frequent articles about "Save the Wave"
You can tell I'm old, but I still drive it like I stole it.

I have had the Vette out a lot this summer and have been surprised at the number of waves. I say a good 80% of them initiate it before I can. I get them from C1 and C2 guys all the time. See alot of them out in the summer show months. The most non waves I get are from C5 guys. Quite a few C6 guys initiate the wave my way.
well ok maybe not all old farts lol....but it jus aggravated me ..I ALWAYS WAVE, because i love my corvette and other vettes....but i feel like i get slapped in the face when another guy driving a vette looks rite at you, as you wave, and doesnt do a thing. ....makes me nuts.....but whatever.....im really glad this thread took off!! haha...i have to say this is the best forum i have ever been at, people are SO nice!!!!!! just want to say thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha.

I get more waves from C6 guys than anyone else. A couple weeks back there was a MR Coupe and a MY Convertible following each other. They both waved at me as I passed the other way. The only ones who hardly ever wave are the C5 crowd. Man I've had maybe 2 waves from C5 owners. C1-C4 always get a wave, C6 all have waved, C5... not so much =/ Oh well... still wave at them though

I have owned every C except a C2/C6 and I have found over the past 36 years of driving Corvettes that it is the newer breed of Corvette owners (mostly) that do not understand or care to wave.
If I was driving my C5, I would almost never get a wave from another C5 owner. If I am driving my C4, I always get a wave from another C4 owner, the C6 guys..... they don't seem to have a clue !!!
See my sig below.... says it all.
