I used to use Shell for years with no real problems, but my Dad told me not to anymore cause they just started adding some S### and taking more good things out to help the enviroment and now it dosent burn as well as it used to.

Any time they start advertising some new formula that is supposed to be "wonderful for the environment" I stand back and watch for a while. I thought Nitrogen was an inert gas that wouldn't burn? Sounds like fluff stuffing to bulk up the volume so they can sell more gallons of "not so much gasoline"!

Default Shell gas

About six weeks ago I decided to try Shell 93 octane in my 1993 Corvette and 2006 Subaru Outback. After a few weeks of driving both cars average fuel economy was down 3 miles per gallon. Both cars seemed to run fine so I was puzzeled. The only thing that was different during this time was the gas. Last Wed. I filled up the Subie with Valero and almost imeadiately the gas started to climb back to normal, today it was back to pre shell levels. No more Shell for me!

Since all of our gas comes from the same distribution point (regardless of brand), I'm going to have to go watch how they blend in the nitrogen. Last time I looked, I tried to find the Chevron guy adding a couple of bottles of Techron as he filled up the truck - never did see any. Oh well, maybe it was allready in the truck and the Shell guys are running around with a bunch of nitrogen in the hold until they fill up.

you got it; its all the same except for the addatives that each end user puts in. Around here (CT) CH White trucks deliver the same gas to all the stations. Just watch them sometime! With the exception of the occasional Mobil station that drives in with its own truck, but I have seen CH White trailers at Mobil too. So riddle me this Batman....when CH White drops off a load of 87 at Mobil, then drives across the street and drops off a load at Shell; how is it 'Nitrogen Enriched'. Did some 'magic' happen when the truck pulled in the lot?

I use Shell 93 in my Car with no problems. Here in Iowa everything has ethanol in it. Infact Shell made the Top Tier list of gasolines even before they had the blend change with the Nitrogen. You won't see Amoco on that list. If you want help your engine to stay clean it would be best to avoid non top tier stations. You can find a list of the stations just Google top tier gas.
On my GPS it lists the gas stations and I'll fill up with Shell, Mobil, Chevron, Phillips 66 or any other top tier gas 1st before a non top tier gas. I run ethanol in my vette with no problem. I get better mileage whenever I can find the premium non ethanol, but living in Iowa is what we're stuck with.

I dont believe they carry enough to load 2 stations. I happen to work at a getty. And I know that 1 trailer unloads 8,000 gallons at our station... When he is finished. His truck is empty and has to go back to refuel. It might be the same trucking service but it is not the same blend...
