I have observed a couple such "traps" in construction areas too. But, what I find hard to believe is where there are posted areas announcing "High Traffic Enforcement Area" sometimes with signs pre-announcing the enforcement areas miles ahead and people still speed! Before retirement I would often drive the PA turnpike and well outside of Pittsburgh coming from Philly there were such signage and the cops were always there within the stated areas handing out tickets.
Not sure what you should draw from this.....just an observation!
I feel like I have to say something on this thread, because I am a Police Officer. I am a Detective so my 'stopping speeders' days are long over, and I work in a city where we have 'real' poilce work to do and cannot just stop speeders all day. With that said, we do have a motor patrol (motorcycles) that does radar in certain trouble spots. I will not criticize anyones opinion of what the 'typical lazy cop' does; because they cerainly are out there; I would just say that they are really not too typical though. Most of us are just doing the job that is assigned to us. The only people I ever wrote tickets out to, were the jack-holes that were caught dead-to-rights and tried to tell me 'the light was yellow' or ' I know I wasn't speeding'. every person who manned up and flat out said, my bad-you got me, got off with a warning--every single time. Try to give us a little break though, if you are flying around in your vette like a low flying jet, give us a break--we may have just done CPR on a baby that died in our arms, and then was fed a line of BS about how 'you didn't see the speed limit sign'.
With all that said, i love some of these pics, they are hilarious!!

Speeding is breaking the law ! Why is this so hard to understand ? And when people break one law, They tend to break others. Not everyone. But way to many. Most beat cops are gonna see what ? Someone running to fast ! Stop crying and follow the rules !

I understand perfectly. It is YOU who does not understand...
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law', because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual."

This isn't specific to C-4's but with summer driving season here we can all use a reminder to avoid meeting the man (or woman) with the badge. What are some of the creative (OK, sneaky) things you've seen cops do to catch speeders or other infractions?
If you really want to avoid contact with LEOs, one suggestion could be to stop breaking the law.
It's interesting that you choose to descripe the officers as "sneaky" instead of yourself as a "lawbreaker."
Funniest story I personally know of.
My ex-father-in-law was at one time president of the Southeast chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Assosiation and a licensed pilot. He got stopped here in town one time running 60+ in a 35 zone. The officer walked up to the door and angrily asked "What's your hurry? You got a license to fly that thing?" He thought about it for 2 seconds, smiled, and said nicely, "Why yes, as a matter of fact I do" and produced his pilot's license. He said the ticket was worth it.
If their handing out summonses for only going a little bit over the limit, its one thing. But those morons that drive WELL over the residential speed limit of 25 really deserve it.
Don't get me started on that stupid 25 MPG speed limit.

You apparently did not read my follow-up post on the second page:
The point of starting the thread was not to complain about "unfair" tickets - I agree that if you break the law you take your chances and are responsible for your own choices. My point was actually admiration at the cops doing something clever and unusual as opposed to just sitting there in a marked car staring at you.
Anyone that bothers to watch their local politics, knows that they refer to speed-traps as "revenue enhancement."
If it was about public safety, they'd have a lot more beat-cops, and a lot less speed-traps.
"If you want the truth, follow the money."
It is not a trap because no one is baiting to speed, and next time I go to a fatal accident on a hwy that I work I will tell myself its about the money. Which is BS
while speeding is against the law, in most localities speeding tickets are a big revenue generator. it is taxation without representation. no doubt there are some that deserve what they get, me included, but many are totally bs. yes in certian areas they should be strict such as schools and work zones but in most cases its not about the law its about the money. additionally, for years, the largest contributor of money to police departments for speed gun purchases were the insurance companies. this way they provide the tools to raise your rates. that is why i fight every ticket i get and plead them down to the lowest infraction they will offer. usually it is something like failure to use a turn signal. but the fine always stays the same. its about the money. they need and want the money.
