I use Mobil Clean 5000 5W-30 and use a AC Delco filter.

10W-40 is too thick IMO, you could use 10W-30 if you wish but the recommended weight is 5W-30.

10w40 due to the added heat in the Florida sun. Will be changing over to Mobile 1 synthetic for the Vette with the next change. I have been using PureOne or Puralator filters recently and they seem to be working OK. Still running Dino oil in the other car because it still leaks Valvoline MaxLife

Was using Mobil 1 0-W40. It's getting hard to find and the price has rocketed! Last time I went to Wmart, M1 5-W30 was in a 4Qt. jug for a little over $27. Valvoline Synth 5-W30 in a 5Qt. jug was $23. Guess which one I got..........

I've had many muscle cars and always used Castrol GTX 10W30. It works just fine in my 85 Vette. Do try to stay away from Fram filters as I read something about them now being made of far less superior materials than they used to be. That's all it took for me . Stick with the AC Delco filter.

Here in Florida I stick with 10-40 dino.Since you don't deal with the temps we do I would suggest 10-30. I suspect that is what your Owners Manual calls for.

Before my LT1 c4s unfortunate end... (wiping eyes), I ONLY used M1 5-30 as recommended here and by the shop that did some work on it for me. I had asked since it was 100 plus and 90 plus humidity in TX. They said NOPE- nothing else in this motor!

I think you have it backwards. You can change the oil at 5-7000 miles but you would NEVER reuse an oil filter. You can reuse the oil for up to 6000 miles but change the filter at 3 and just reuse the oil. I wouldn't be able to screw on a used oil filter to any car. I would feel guilty.

on finding whats on sale. Autozone usually runs a 10 dollar special on Castrol. No oil is going to make a hp increase. Any top brand oil is about as good as the other.
