Engine problem update.

Finally got my Vette running. It idles smooth, revs good. Engine mechanically sounds good. Still getting a check enginge code 42. I have replaced the ignition control module, distributor cap, and the coil.

I also got a code 33 mass air flow sensor. Found insulation cracked on all 3 wires at the same place. They look liked they had been crimped or something.

I know now that the problem isn't mechanical. I am thinking more of an electrical problem. Probably wiring. Need to do some more checking.

Thanks everyone for your help, I think I am on the way to getting the problem fixed.

If you have any more ideas let me know.

It is amazing that all of this happened at once. Maybe you lost a ground or something that is causing all of these codes to come up? Just throwing ideas out there.

Hello RH53,

Saw your message, you may want to check your fuel cap, fuel filter, charcoal canister and all vapors lines, rubber mostly and I understand there is a fuel vapor canister at the back side on the passenger side you may also check, section 6C-17 of manual st-364-91 service manual from GM. Simple as things are sometimes, something to check, even gas in the tank. This may help maybe not.
