[POLL] Alternator replacement
I know many people here have replaced their Alternator (some more then once) anyway I want to get a good Idea of which models have had the most problems.

well so far the poll is what I expected..
I am on #7 or #8 myself.. I am going to use an Alt from an LT1 and I will have pictures when I install it.

on my '85 I replaced it after a few months of ownership.
My '90 went bad after about a year of ownership. So far I have only done one alternator on the '90. I think I went through two on the '85.

Mine freaked out - made the car run at 17 volts - and fried my instrument cluster :cry Knock on wood, I haven't had an more problems.

I replaced my 35th Ann. Alternator once because it needed it. I have since taken that 105 amp alt off and replaced it with a high output 170 amp alt. I have the stock 105 amp alt sitting in a box ready to be put back on if I sell it. :D

Forget the alternator and battery. Go nuclear, and get a big capacitor and regulator!
You'll only need fuel ever 20 years or so.

I forgot I loaned out my Digital Camera.. but I got eh LT1 CS144 Alt to fit on my 89. I had to modify the BPP Air pump Elim Bracket to fit but it is in. I have to test drive it tonight in the heat but I think I am all set now!

The first time mine wnet out I replaced it with a Pep Boys lifetime warranty one. I thought I was szving money but had to replace it about every 6 months. After about 4 or 5 of them I bought one from a specialty rebuilder and haven't had a problem since :cheers:

My 85 needs a new one, but more importantly right now I need a new torque converter, so im not going anywhere
