So I have been having this annoying issue with my drivers side headlight. when I turn the lights on or off the drivers side motor keeps running for about 5 sec and the housing is not all the way flush when closed.

I"d buy two of these and do both. You can get them from any of the vendors. I just did both mine and the first one took about 45 minutes, the second one about 20 after I had the tools and experience. The gasket will tear if you don't remove it carefully, but you can seal it with Silicone RTV or buy a gasket while you're at it. The pucks on mine were completely dissolved into powder and the gear was worn down, but they still opened and closed. Both continued to run (thump) for about 5 seconds in either direction.
These are for 88-96.

I do not think I can advise people to use this video. There is a way to do this that makes it so you do not have to remove the headlight bucket assembly and have to set it up and adjust it.
I have done dozens...but to each his/her own.
If you care to know my way of doing it...PM me. BUT whatever you do...do not use a flat blade screwdriver on a Torx headed bolt....PLEASE....because you can make it hard for guys like me who have the correct tools to do the job. AND...using a drill bit (pointed end) to remove a roll pin....that is another one.
I know the guy used what he had....but...that is like me having a video of me taking trees down in my front yard by ramming my truck into them until they fall....does not make it the correct way to drop a tree. Just 'saying'.
