Hi,I have what I believe to be an issue with my door switches on my 94 Corvette. I have seen plenty of threads from people who's courtesy lights won't go off, mine won't come on. Everything behaves at all times as if the door is closed, even if it is open. As I have said, courtesy lights don't come on ( they do work as they come on when I use the key to unlock the door) boot release on the drivers door doesn't operate ( the centre console boot release works)and power windows and stereo operate with the key out even once I have opened the door, although these do time out after about 10-15 minutes. Finally, the door ajar light does not come on. Suspect door switches but I am in New Zealand so parts aren't just down the road so I would like some feedback as to if I am on the right track and if it's possible to fiddle about with the existing ones to get them working?
Any feedback appreciated as parts will take a week or 2 to arrive so would like to know if I am on the right track before potentially ordering anything.
PS If anyone from New Zealand reads this and knows a good parts supplier I would be keen to hear about them. This is my first Corvette and I have only had it a week!
Defiantly door switches. Mine did the exact same thing till I replaced mine. Once fixed the alarm will function as well. I bought mine from off of eBay. The replacement switch wasn't as good as the factory switch and came apart after install. I used epoxy to put it back together and haven't had any issues since. The reason it came apart was due to the adjustment pin not sliding all the way in when the door was closed. Make sure the adjustment pin is all the way in and you shouldn't have any issues. The adjustment pin is a small pin in the tip that can be extended to make the switch longer.

Thanks, I'll go ahead and order a new switch. Have seen a couple of you tube videos showing how replacement is done and it looks like something I could manage.
Try seeing if they are just stuck and need ajustment first. Gently pull the plunger all the way out then gently close the door to ajust. Might save some work and money. If you do replace take out one screw with the other loose. Then turn the switch and replace the fisrt screw to hold the backup plate. It will save you taking the door pad off.

with antfarmer2. There is an adjustment to the plunger. It may have been forced in too far keeping the lights turned off. Gently pull the plunger out a little and see if the light comes on. Then shut the door gently to adjust it to the door jam.

Great, I will give it a shot today. I'm new at this so I would just remove the rubber boot and gently pull the plunger out a little, replace boot and then gently close the door?
Interesting, I have only ever looked at the one on the drivers side of mine and it would seem, after now comparing it to the passenger side, that it is some kind of generic door switch. This switch has a rubber cover over it. On closer inspection a mounting plate that takes the screw thread has been glued to the outside of the door panel, I'm guessing whoever changed it the first time lost the original one down into the door cavity and thought this was a good solution? I guess the question now is does it not work because it's broken or just not the right switch? Have only had the car a few days so I have no idea if this generic switch ever did the trick.
Fun times
Your pretty much on your own on this one. If you need help with the door pad let us know. Just noticed you are a bit far away might just put the pass side switch on the drivers side so everything will work right.

Thanks, at this point given the number of features affected it's probably worth paying an auto electrician for an hour of their time to see what's what.

No save your money to buy the switches $25 to $30 each here and it sounds like that is your problem with your symptoms. And they might tear up your door pad not knowing how they come off. Look on youtube to see how and to see the hidden screws. Or we can help.

Is the connection from the switch to the wiring a standard connection or a GM/ Corvette proprietary connection? I was just thinking with the switch not being an exact replacement someone may have had to monkey about with the connector?
It should be a GM type connector. I don't think GM uses any standard stuff. If your harness is messed up, you might be able to get one from the salvage guys in the parts for sale section of the C4 group.
