Just so I'm sure, these brackets we don't reuse with longtubes?

You probably COULD, but there's likely no reason and you probably won't have any pipes near there to attach to them anyways.

Understood. They are massive PITA to get the upper bolts. Was hoping I wouldn't have to remove them

It seems like the head on these allen bolts are too wide to clear the header tubes in some spots. Do i need to buy different header bolts?

Also, to open up the header bolt holes, can I use a drill or is something else needed?

Looks to me like that bolt isn't in straight.

One thing I found helped a lot was getting the bolts started but not in anywhere near all the way. It helped getting them all started without them hitting the primaries.

You can use a drill to open the header bolt holes up, but I wouldn't. It'll be impossible to get the primaries centered over the exhaust ports if they can shift around some.

I had to push or pull on the headers to get the bolts started. Once the headers get a few heat cycles on them they'll reform a little bit and got better (which is why you have to go back in and tighten them all again after a few weeks).

These are the header bolts that I used. Link

For the holes, I used the round file by hand and took my time to open up the holes.

Mine are all slotted slightly except the end holes. As long as you don't drill out the holes on the ends those bolts will keep the ports lined up. Start all the bolts with the header pulled away from the head as far as possible and tighten the bolts that are closest to the tubes first.

Thanks guys. I'll take my time on that. Don't want to mess anything up.

I came across oem manifold gaskets. Will those work and or be best for the longtubes? I know I already asked about gaskets. But wondering about the oem gaskets.

They'll work. If you get them free, that's fine, but I wouldn't buy them if you already bought a set of decent ones.

I'm guessing I have to dent the tube where the bolt is crooked? All other bolts went in good.

And or will I have to open the bolt hole on the header? Not much room to open it more with the primary right beside it.

Is the header on tight? Or loose? Does it fit if the header isn't bolted up at all?

If it won't fit with it loose, yeah, you're looking at clearancing that pipe. I don't think you should need to open up any holes personally.

Tight. It won't fit loose, either.

Guess you're gonna have to clearance that primary then. That sucks. It's gonna suck trying to torque it too.

I'm thinking a deep hex socket coming through the wheel well will help for torquing it. If that is what you mean by torquing it.

Yeah I was thinking torquing that bolt that needs clearance to fit in at all was gonna be a pain to torque with the hex key needed for the head.

Not a fan of how close it is to that black line. Which has wiring inside of it. None of these bolts want to go in straight. It seems the bolt heads are too wide, or I need to dent, basically all of the driver side primary tubes. What a pain.

Are we supposed to use the washers that come with the arp bolts? I noticed if I put the washers on, the bolts won't go on.

Always use washers. Not sure why, something about clamping force or something that a mechanical engineer could explain better, but yeah you want to use the washers

Hang it on a middle bolt, loosely. Then try to work from the outside in on bolts, again all loosely until you get them all threaded in. Sometimes you'll have to do the 2nd one from the outside first and pry on the headers to get it to line up. Once they're all actually grabbing, them you can start getting them tight. The flanges are not gonna be perfectly flat and straight until they've heat cycles a few times and relaxed. Worth noting, you're gonna have to come back and retighten these bolts a few time once they're all on.
