1. french company
2. they REALLY gave ferrari a hard time last year in F1
3. there are tires just as good for less $
Kumho's are my choice. Good performance, low price and long lasting.
I hate France as much if not more than any red blooded American. But there is the time to recognize a superior product. I love Michellin tires, they would be on my car if I had the money for it. I've had nothing but bad experiences with Goodyear.
BTW, isn't Chevrolet a French name? And umm, what nationalilty did the word "Corvette" come from?
:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: Brian you REALLY need to remember to log off of the forum when you use my computer so I don't post under your name. That's two freebies you got tonight. :mad

I fail to see your point.
So Chevrolet is a French name. Chevrolet is an American car, made by an American manufacturer in America.
Michelin tires are French tires made by a French company.
And France enjoys none of my respect at the moment.
So just because it's French you won't buy it. The Chevrolet meanwhile has been American long enough that you will buy it. I just can't follow your logic. Kumho's are made in Korea, personally I'm not so fond of them either.
Without getting into a political science debate just realize that you do live in a global market. We're all humans and we're all in it together. The sooner the hatred stops the sooner we'll all progress in the universe. This country would probably not be here without the French and your beloved Chevrolet Corvette may not exist either.
Yeah you can call them names all you want, but in the end their blood is no different than yours. :grouphug:
I'm riding on the Goodyear HP Ultra Plus right now, and I'm planning to get the GSD3s next. Like others, I've heard nothing but good things about them.
The Nov '03 Consumer Reports rates them as the top ultra-high-performance tire, with the Pilot Sports at #4 and the Kumhos near the bottom. The Toyo Proxes T1-S was #2. Is anyone using these? C'mon - speak up.
Wanted Goodyears, not available. Second choice was Michelin, but they no longer make a 315. :mad Ended up with Yokohama AVS Sports. So far so good!

Re: Tire poll time! (69mako)
I have 285 nitto 555's on back, and 275 goodyears on front...
I had them on the car when I was given the roadster...
And the nitto's do stick better than the front ent does, but since it's a new car to me, it may be that that's the nature of my beast, or the tire compounds, and I'm learning the quirks now.
I've never had the nitto's before, but they do stick well.
And to tell you the truth buddy...
My seat is finally where I had always imagined it, and my experiences with everything from M/T's to connies I will attest to the rear set sticking harder than a goodyear set on anything I have driven to date with the exception of a set of prepped slicks (which isn't street legal in Cali... and I ahhh... never did that... sir)
kuhmo ....I got over the buy only firestone and goodyear thing when the tire companys SOLD U.S. OUT and went overseas... remember firestone was really bridgestone and really just riding on the name when all those ford exploders and their "firestone" went over and crashed? I actually like the new kuhmo's on my 88 coupe they feel like a go cart on dry track , as if they cant break loose....john
Another vote for BFG KD's.... great tire for autocross.
Also.... and I know its a Michelin company..... they sponsor a lot of corvette activities in western Canada. They support the clubs.... we support BFG!
GoodYear? Not on my lawn mower :nonod Could never get GoodYear to stand behind their tire.
Yep...
Out of round tire...they wouldn't replace it!! Put the car on a chassis dyno and the 1 tire went bump, bump, bump...car had a noise at speed from that wheel...Goodyear...nope, nothing wrong with the tire...
