I replaced my Goodyears with BFG after the Goodyears had worn down. The BFG are quieter and were less expensive. I really notice the quieter ride when on longer trips on the freeways. I guess our choice depends on how we use the Corvette.
I agree 100% with Larry! The Komho's are very good tires for the money but will flat spot over night, in cold weather it takes a while to ride it out, but other than that I have no complaints for the money.
I'm very happy with the Bridgestone Potenza RE730's that I put on last year. Much better then the Goodyear's I took off, but they did have 30,000 miles on them and were origional to the car, so they were getting pretty old.
I fail to see your point.
So Chevrolet is a French name. Chevrolet is an American car, made by an American manufacturer in America.
Michelin tires are French tires made by a French company.
And France enjoys none of my respect at the moment.
You guys apparently don't know about Michelin North America? The Michelin Pilot tires for our Vettes are made in South Carolina, USA or Nova Scotia, Canada. Yes, the parent company is French but good old American's are building your tires.
I've had Goodyear and Michelin on my Vette. The Michelins are far superior in all areas IMHO, well worth the extra $$$. To each their own.
kuhmo ....I got over the buy only firestone and goodyear thing when the tire companys SOLD U.S. OUT and went overseas...
Hmm...My new GS-D3's say "made in USA" on the side wall....
Car had Falken Ziex on it went I bought it. The worse tires I ever drove on!
The Good yeras are so much better, then again anything would after those other tires. Yoko's were a lot more money, BFG didn't test as well according to Tire rack, michelin way too much money. I see a lot of Pirellis come into work with blowouts, Contentals too.
Yokohama AVS Sports on all 4 corners. :yesnod: Bought them less than a year ago, and at the time they had the lowest treadwear rating that I could find....180. I don't care about longevity of tread, I want the car to stick, not spin.
The car sees about 1,500 miles/year so they'll dry rot before I wear them out anyway. Tread pattern is untraditional, and becomes a bit of a conversation piece at gatherings.
I am very pleased with my choice, and would purchase them again if in the market for tires. :auto:
Hey rubyred93 I wanted to ask you about a post you made inthe archives about the optispark. I have the same car and live in in NY and wanted to know which dealer you used.
rebuild - I use The Corvette Shop located in Orange County NY, on Rt. 17K. The owner's name is Paul Comeau and he has been working on Corvettes for over 20 years. Try this web site: http://www.thcorvetteshop.com (yes, the "e" is missing, I know).
Nice guy to deal with. If you call, tell him Kim with the 40th convertible recommended you to him. :) Good Luck. :steering:
Goodyears today....Kumho's tomorrow (my GY's are about 7 yrs old and hard as a rock)...just ordered a combo deal off of ebay for polished A-Molds and Kumho 712's.
I have used Goodyear tires for years ,Irecently got a set of HPs and am completely unhappy with them .Ihave ordered a set of BFGs,and hope they are better. :steering:
