This repair can't get any simplier. As quick as John sent me the procedure I searched the house for something suitable. I found an old notebook loose leaf binder and it still had the plastic paper pieces that allow the cover to fold easily. These look just like large pieces of venetian blinds. I cut to size and it took no more than 10 seconds to slide the plastic in. Make sure you slide the plastic in close to the bottom of the mirror housing so it clears the mirror posts inside. You really can't see that in the picture. I used a small screwdriver to push the plastic in further. It's like new. Thanks John for the procedure.

My 95 did the same thing I just took a large paper clip and angle it so that part of clip is on the good side and part of the is on the broken side. Hope this helps.
I did the mini-blind method yesterday and it was quick and easy (5 min for both sides). I just cut a 4-5 inch section of a plastic miniblind blade and pried the mirror open just enough to work it in and it works great. Best of all, no cutting, no tools needed! Just have to be careful to not pry on the mirror too hard!

I'll bet that works even better than the venetian blind material....
I have, for free, some perfect pieces of plastic to do this repair. I cut a pair for myself and there is lots left. Cut from extra, large vertical blinds they put up here a work. Let me know if anyone wants a pair and I'll send them to you. They are the exact size as listed in the instructions tobijohn is sending out.
Teebee, great post. I'm sure many will want to take you up on your thoughtful offer. Tobijohn's fix is so simple, inexpensive, and complete as a solution for fixing those floppy/droopy sun visors in our C-4s. It's always nice to be able to save a $100 or so too!
