mine do that too. the ones with the mirrors and lights in em are expensive. i also heard that they are cardboard inside and saw an aftermarket replacement somewhere (can't remember) with plastic inside. for now i just fold mine over the top.
You can buy replacements just like came on it ofcourse. Or you can buy replacements with plastic in the tips instead of cardboard. Or you can get a kit that replaces the cardboard with plastic.
but if ur a stickler like me just get the originals. The others are always not exactly like the OEM's

Save your money! If your fabric's in good shape, remove the mirror and I used some cardboard from a beer carton and reinforced it with thin, stiff plastic such as is used in packaging. I cut it to fit inside, overlapping the bend area and surrounding the mirror opening. Looks as good as new and works better.
Here's a quick and inexpensive fix that will look like the original when complete. If yours have the lighted mirrors, pry the mirrors out...no need to disconnect them, you only want them loose enuff to get at the cardboad on the outside end of the visor. (Mine were are held in with a snap like post near each end of the mirror back). Next cut a piece of plastic sheet that will bend easily but return to flat when the sunvisor is down., Think I used one of those plastic "for sale" signs...maybe double thickness. The size of the cut plastic should allow it to slid between the cloth and cardboard into the outside end of the visor. Round the end corners to something close the shape of the cardboard. You'll want it to be long enuff to just fit under the end of the mirror. You can tell by the feel of the end of the visor when the plastic is thick and long enuff. When it tests and feels/looks like it's right, then it probably is. Snap the mirror back into position...think I placed a piece or wood or something like that over the cloth on the side without the mirror when pressing the mirror back into the holes. This prevented maring or stretching of the cloth when trying to force the snap post back into the cardboard. This is from memory because I havn't done this for a few years. I've done this to 3 of our past C4s. Sounds confusing but when you get the mirror loose you will be able to better understand what I'm trying to describe. Should take you about 15-30 min to complete each visor. Good luck, Bill
I took another option: I took the sunvisors off and kept them off.
Never even missed, & my baseball cap doesn't hit them anymore.
The top of my windshield is shaded so I don't need them.
I use the rear view mirror light, if I need light.
Sounds logical to me. Sure glad it was your sunvisors that wern't functioning correctly and not your Vette's doors. Thanks for the idea. Next time I stumble over the dog I now know how to solve the problem
Did mine this weekend. Not many people notice, but I know they are finally better than new! Used plastic cut from Purina cat chow bucket. Glued it to the cardboard (kept a "c" clamp on until it dried) and they now function like they are supposed to.
I took my visors off to repair them yersterday and the car looked so much better with em off i decided to just leave em off for awhile. I never used em for anything but to hold a garage door opener anyway.I am sure i will repair them someday as per the tips in this thread but in the meantime i'll be going sans visors.
A while back I purchased a kit of eBay for repairing floppy visors. It was basicly a piece of plastic similar to that in a venetian blind. I scanned and converted the instructions to a pdf along with the dimensions of the plastic insert that slips in under the mirror (no need to remove it with this fix). I'd be happy to email it to anyone who'd like it. Just let me know...

I nominate John CF member of the month. By now I figure he's sent out over 1/2 dozen instructions on how to make old sunvisors look like new OEM. All who took advantage of his help saved at least $259 + S & H for the pair, or over $1600 to date for CF members.
Here's to JOHN Thanks
