If anyone knows what C4's are capable of on the big end it would be 8388. I have read numerous stories where he has gone 190 plus in his awesome collection of C4's.

I have to say I have taken mine pretty much stock to 152 mph
that is with an A4 and stock 2.59 dana 36. and it was turning i think 4 grand. and then i let off the gas. keep in mind i have no ac and my car weighs about 2900.
it was completely stable.
and I expect it to be even more stable once i install the 4 pt weld in roll bar.

once I get the n20 i will try top speed.. maybe 170? 180?
I know stock with headers and muffler elims it reached 170 on the dyno... but its not the same as on the road.

200 mph + wow!

Default This is what it takes on public roads to do 200mph

See the C4 below. 600rwhp, many aero mods, weights only 2640 lbs.

Default possible source for rear end "lightness"

I thought about this last night. One of the things that most people overlook is airflow under a car. The big boys use the front air dam to limit the amount of air going under the car.

Regardless any air flowing under the car will encounter a "bottleneck" as it flows through the rear end = axles, diffs etc - essentially squeeze down - this results in lower pressure and higher speed for the air flowing through the restriction (a big venturi valve). as the air gets through it goes to a higher volume - that means slower air and higher pressure - and it also induces turbulance - I guess in theory this could be enough to destabilize the car. (removing the plastic tray for the spare tire changes the rear end volume quite a bit!)

This is why alot of C-3 guys who know what they are doing, have rear appendages under the car that channel the air out the back end - smoother flow - and keep"new air" from being introduced from behind the rear wheels (reducing turbulance). Burners over in C-3 has one - I think George Kull does too. I have a picture of one if someone wants to see it.

probably got a bit to do with air flowing under the rear tires too, since the lower 1/3 of them is pretty open with the standard body...

using 6th gear for top speed runs iw ouldnt reccomend. i found out the hard way when i had 4.09 gears and used to use 6th to accelerate .. by bye zf. apparently the 6th gear synchro is shared with reverse and cant handle high loads.

sure the sledgehammer felt a little unstable.. but 254 is a lot different than 200 mph.

with 4.09 rears and a 305/30/19 ive taken 5th to 7800 rpm
