Default mailorder chips unlocked

Would anyone be interested in some performance and calibration data on some mailorder chips? Not going to pit one company against each other. Names will remain anonymous to keep the drama low. This is meant to show people the difference between mailorder tunes. Then post results of a total recalibration done by me. Might have a few cars in STL to run the test (at the track AND dyno). I could post the results........

I think it would be cool to pit the mailorder companies against an OEM chip.

Ragtop 93 is supposed to be trying mine, vs. anthor company and vs ed wright.

Maybe I can get him to compare it against stock too.

Hes already compared the driveablity of mine vs. the others.

I'd like to see some good comparative data. And it would be best to keep the vendors names confidential.

I'd be interested in seeing only the off the shelf chips rather than custom tunes.

So which engine are you considering on using as a test bed?

kvu, where are you located around Stl? A couple of weeks ago I was at Adrenaline Motorsports and a guy pulled up in a C4 vert claiming it would run 9.90's. Was that guy you? The next time you run at Gateway, please let me know. I would love to see a Vette lay down a 9 second run.

I doub't that kvu even owns a vet. The 9second could be in the 1/8 mile.
If you check his profile, he has nothing but x x x x. The 9 second avitar should be respected and when a member uses it then he should have a vehicle doing a 9 second 1/4 mile pass.
kvu, If your vehicle does a 9 second 1/4 mile pass than I will be the first to apologize until then....
just my 2cents.

9.90's I would like to see that as well. That would be a damn impressive run! Mike what did that guys car sound like when he pulled up at Adrenaline MS? Its going to take a pretty radical engine to pull off a 9 second pass or a engine that has one large power pill or a couple of them

Tom, the car really didn't sound that radical. In fact, he let it idle in the parking lot for at least 20 minutes while he was talking to us. He claimed it had a 420 ci engine, D44 with 430 gears, and an auto tranny. Susan that owns Adrenaline did say he is a serious street racer, and that all his cars run well.

Well, anything is possible. A 420 with an appropriate power adder may well get him there. I just know what it takes to get into the 10s with a NA engine, just as most of us here does. That A/Stock camaro that was on my dyno last week goes 9.80s with it putting down 550hp at the wheels.

I plan on doing some comparsion runs on April 6th., provided I dont get rained out.
I plan on testing this way, A short burnout with each run, (ET Streets dont need much) and I have a electric waterpump and manual fans so I plan on running at a temp. of 160-170 each time. Are there any other suggestions on what to do to normalize the runs?
My test will be 3 runs with each chip. The chips I have are PCMFORLESS tuning, Ed Wright Generic chip, Stock, and one other brand custom chip which I will not name at this time.

I think it would be cool to pit the mailorder companies against an OEM chip.
I think any info on this subject is in the interest of CF members, but as with all comparisons, it is easy to compare apples with oranges and the results will all differ due to different starting points on the vehicles tested. ie. mufflers/cat back changes, adjustable FPR's, aircleaners, you name it, it will skew the results.
If all modifications on a specific test vehicle were tabulated and then the "off the shelf" chips were tested, then that would be good, HOWEVER, as we know our ECM's have a learning feature and need a settling down period to learn new parameters of the 'new' chips although I am aware that a lot of the off the shelf chips alegedly only alter open loop full throttle operation, it would be interesting to confirm this point alone.
I don't think it is appropriate to compare custom tunes for a specific combination into this 'comparison test', as then not only do you have apples and oranges to compare, you have peaches and lemons!
Compare on:-

I have a better idea. Let me tune your vette and I'll bet you $1000 the engine will make more power throughout the entire rpm range. You car might run great.... but you'll never know how much better it'll run until there is some hands on tuning. There is so many things you can do through the ECM. For example, looks like you use nitrous. If you was logging data it would be obvious the coolant temp rises towards the end of the run. This is a direct result of combustion temps. One method that could be implemented is to add fuel when the coolant temp rises. You'll see several benefits from the cylinder cooling. This cannot be done through the mail. The car has to be with front of me and have my laptop + wideband hooked up.

Unfortunately, my Jesse chip failed flat on its face, and was mostly responsible for my engine getting cooked. When I'm flat out told "My chip will get you 90% of the way there.....and really you wouldn't much notice the other 10%" --- coupled with my naievete (didn't verify immediately) -- and add in the fact that it was a HORRIFIC tune (or should I say, NON-TUNE) -- I ended up with a disaster. So, my 1rst mail order tune ended up in a ditch

That is not an answer to the question - DO YOU HAVE A 9 SECOND 1/4MILE CAR?. If you don't you are being deceptive and I would not take your word nor trust you for anything.
I seem to recall your being on other forum members for not answering the question at hand.
