i just thought of something new.... if youll give a listen.
i have white smoke out the exhaust and a coolant pressure light that comes on every now and then. I assumed that it was the head gasket.
I keep getting advice to check the oil and coolant levels however to verify the antifreeze isnt getting into the oil and the oil isnt getting into the antifreeze. I am admittedly handicapped at this stuff, but I can't see any evidence that they're mixing.
s there another gasket that could be the problem then? Intake gasket? Is there coolant passages near the exhaust manifolds?
I'm doing my compression test soon, but I just don't understand my indications. Help?
Yes. A leaking intake manifold gasket can allow coolant into the combustion chambers and cause white "smoke". You should still see signs of coolant in the oil.
I'd like to know more about your, "coolant pressure light".
oh wait i meant to say "coolant level"
but the level is always fine, so i assume that there might be a pressure input too? maybe its the sensor?
You need a factory service manual, badly. "so i assume that there might be a pressure input too?" Is that what your owners manual says? Where are you checking the coolant level? If the light comes on, there is a real good chance the coolant is low. If unattended, you could fry an engine.

RACE ON!!!
well i DID suck it up and purchase the factory manual, but when i say the level looks good i mean that i checked under the cap and in the overflow tank and they are both fine.
i dont know where else to check....
always at startup and then it goes away to a greater or lesser extent. once the car gets hot, it will sometimes start smoking more profusely in traffic (for example)
