The part you're refering to that is hitting the T-Stat housing is where the coolant goes into the TB. Many people bypass this as it isn't really necessary for most of us given the intended design. You have to cut that off, at least I did on mine. I also had my thermostat housing cut down, rotated, and re-welded.

I did have the wedge welded to my plenum.

PS - I had a few leaks and had a local welder take care of them. The welder said that it was not uncommon with aluminum welds and was impressed with the amount of modification.
Thanks, I was looking for something like that. I was going to have a milled spacer welded to the bottom of my plenum because I suspected leakage. My plenum is different than yours though, it's just like Jesse's and clearance is very tight as it is.

mine is an 85. Not that it matters, but has a 400 sb in it. Also, I can't get the car to idle. I have the factory throttle body on it and haven't really touched it at all. Since everything else in the motor is different (plus the extra 50 cubes) I didn't know if I just needed to turn the idle speed up or add a bigger aftermarket throttle body.
