Default Well its ON now.

I have a grudge match with my friend who has a 405 SAE RWHP (DYNOJET) (soon to be 430+ RWHP) LS1 Camaro. he has forced me to make the Following changes to my car:

Full 3" mandrel bent exhaust with XPIPE, no Cats, and Race style MufflersDynomax Ultraflows.
Full Reverse Manual Valve Body no auto option.
Convert to Accel DFI gen 7+ and ditch the Restrictive MAF.
It will be setup and tuned by Matt of TT Performance in Clifton NJ. They are Great!

Question is: Will I be able to beat him?

We both have 4 speed autos and 3.73's. He is putting down 405 RWHP and 365 RWTQ through the Auto and he has a 4000 converter and DR's.

My setup:

1976 400 2 bolt Block bored and stroked to 420 Cubes.

11.28:1 compression.

Eagle 4340 rotating assem, w/ 6" H Beam rods and Custom JE forged pistons w/ 1.06" compression height. (very light and short skirt)

TPIS Miniram ported and cleaned up. 1000 CFM TB.

AFR 210 cc RR heads, milled, cleaned up, w/ spring upgrade for .700+ lift

TPIS 700-702 Cam 248,248 @ .050 w/ .659,.661 lift w/ 1.6 RR

Block Decked and Align Honed, w/ everything balanced.

TPIS 1 3/4 headers with the 3" exhaust coming soon.

TPIS Cold Air under the nose w/ K&N

Dynamic 700r4 with the reverse manual going in it soon.

TCT 3400 10" non-lockup converter

Dana 44 w/ 3.73's

315/35/17 BFG DR.

Anyone have a clue what kind of power to expect?

He thinks he will be low 11's in his car and I am hoping for the Same.

Please let me know what you guys think.
I am dropping the Car off at TTP on the 15th.

Default Driver's Race?

He has been known to sleep at the tree.
My Car is at least 100+ lbs. lighter than his.

I have logged 500+ passes on the Vette and the last full year (sadly back in 2000)out averaged .096 reaction time, but that was the old 350 combo. It will take a while to learn the new setup and traction.

I think it will be decided by the tree and more importantly traction levels.

How much RWHP should I expect with a non lockable converter?
I am expecting at least 60+ ft/lb advantage over him. (mainly the cubes and compression).

I will keep you guys posted to where it actually dynos when it tuned.
Hopefully they will get me in and out quickly.
Dropping it off next weekend april 15th.

if your car is tuned and running properly and your a 100lbs lighter and you don't beat him you need to start another hobby like ballet dancing.. your car should be putting close to 450-500 at the wheels with that cam heads and cube setup.. this is presuming your engine is running like it needs to and your fuel system is in place and you have the tune dead nuts on.. sounds like you should be punishing this guy!

Is that even possible with an unlocked converter with my setup?

I am not getting my hopes up.

I was told 552 HP and 560 torque on a 10.6:1 compression 406 that TPIS Dyno'ed with the exact same Heads, Cam, and Intake. Keep in mind they ran No accesories and open headers on an engine dyno. I am sure there is over 120 hp loss at the wheels with everything bolted up and an unlocked automatic. They thought I would't make any more HP but possibly a bit more torque due to the increase in cubes and compression. I guess the untouched AFR 210's only put out about 550 hp and thats the limiting factor.

You should bre able to run high 10's with that combination. My car is less radical then yours and I am low 11's hoping for 10's. You should win.

I checked your signature and your car is awesome. I just hope to run those numbers. I am asuming your converter was unlocked when dynoed. I always gear myself up for disappiontment so 10's aren't on my mind. I just want a clean pass down the track.

Good luck on your quest for the 10's.

Was your car dynoed on a mustang or dynojet dyno? I am really curious.

The numbers were with a locked converter. When the converter was unlocked my peak HP dropped to 376 RWHP and my peak torque increased to 490 RWTQ. The unlocking of the converter gives strange dyno numbers so I always dyno both ways to see what the engine is doing and then how the converter effects the output.
