Default Electrical Gremlins

Hello all!

I have a few electrical gremlins on my 89 coupe showing up, and I was wondering if they all might be related.

First off, I get a code 36 (MAF Burnoff Relay). This, I'm pretty sure is related to a manual fan switch that the previous owner had installed. The wires run through the firewall and tie in near the burn off relay. I fixed it before by just making the connections better. (He just has them connected with electrical tape) I was thinking about removing this switch, but haven't had time to trace things out properly and see where all the other wires go! I'm afraid that when I disconnect it, something else will go with it!

Now, after replacing my fuel injectors, the "antilock" light is on. I assumed I just unplugged a wire, but haven't found it yet.

And my battery is losing charge like crazy!

Now, this all may be a coincidence... But I was wondering if maybe I have a short somewhere that is causing some of these problems and draining the battery.

I plan on replacing the battery, and I guess I need to trace the wires and remove the fan switch. Anything else I should check to get rid of the gremlins

Thanks in advance!

Default Opti?

I'm new here, but I think Code 36 is the dreaded OPTI code... might want to search the forums a bit for '36'.

Good luck!

I have no idea why a manual fan switch would be tied into the burn off relay. If you want to use a manual fan switch, it should be tied into the main fan relay's dark green wire and the other side of switch goes to ground. Can't see how injector change affected the ABS as there really is nothing related to ABS near the intake. Maybe it's the "BRAKE" light and it's on because of a bumped connector at master ??
Here is some good reading from my 86 manual.

Default Thanks!

Well, the light says "antilock" Maybe it's related to the connector on the master though. I checked it, but not well. I will do so tonight!

I don't know why he wired the switch up that way, but then I don't know why he didn't bother to solder and shrinkwrap it either.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out right away!
