Hi you all. I am new to the forum. I have a 90 convertible with 85000 miles, bought it 3 months ago. A couple of weeks ago I got caught out in a rain storm. I tried to run the wipers but not until I turned them to high did they do anything. Am I looking at a new motor or what? Appreciate anyone's experience with this.
The lower voltage on the switch or settings are not making the connection albeit the high side is working. Start w/ the switch it sounds, as Agent86 said "I'll say the switch since you proved the motor works."
Had same problem, remove control box from car (upper firewall) and check contacts on relays. Clean them and reassemble. Mine were dirty and misaligned. Works fine now. The parking relay is the most likely one.

After reading another member response it brought to mind that once on my Suburban the winshield wiper motor did the same thing! What I did was take the front cover off of it and remove the circuit board and inspected it closely and found that the soldering spots were cracked around the base of the solder. So I got my soldering gun and heated the solder up and added alittle as well and re-soldered all the suspect spots. Took care of the problem so I did this on my GMC work truck too!for it had the same problem(What happened was the vibration cracked the solder joint on the circuit board of the wiper motor). Re-soldered them and all was well. Hope this helps!
