I just had my 17,000 mile 1991 ECM replaced with a Rem ECM. The dealer charged me $270, including a saving of $57 because I belong to the local Corvette Club. Does that sound about right?
My instant and average MPG is reading about 6 MPG high, could that be related to the new ECM?
You say 6 high but what is the absolute numbers? Those calculations are done in the CCM but I beleive an input from the ECM would be the fuel injectors MS time on or the duty cycle. The ECM derives this from all the sensors it reads to come up with air fuel ratio.
Start out taking a real milage reading manually by filling the tank, checking the milage and doing the math. You should be close. There is more info on this but this is a good starting point I think.

$270 for a REM ECM Autozone had one in stock for my 91' for $89...
The same ECM was also used on the Lumina and Grandprix in the very early ninties. There are tons of these cars in the wrecking yards. They can be had for $25.
