Instead of using a bypass hose, can you simply plug each end of the removed hoses?

If yes, then I would shorten the hoses.

If you plug either hose, you will not have any hot water in the heater. This is good......if you live in the tropics

Orlando is like the tropics, but I still want the heat to operate.

I respectfully disagree about loosing the heat. I have looked at the hose plumbing and it just does not look to me that is the case. One hose is off the pump and the other is back to the block. Check it out, tell me why I’m wrong?

Paul: We both may be correct. The original post by MM174 was for a 89 model year...just like my car. In looking at your profile, you have a LT1 engine and the plumbing is very different between these two years. Thanks for the note

As I read more of the posts I see it was referring to 80s vintage. I jumped the gun a little on this, but didn’t realize it when I asked the question. Sorry for the trick question, I understand the big picture now.

Ecklers does made a bypass kit for $20 but I was just thinking that getting rid of the hoses might be a better idea by capping the ends. It also appears on my car that the two hoses are different diameters. So a cheep PVC bypass pipe might not work simply.

When I made my post I was talking about an LT1 and yes you can simply cap all 4 ends that way you eliminate both hoses to the throttlebody. It really helps to clean up the bay a little more. As stated you can buy the bypass kit at pretty much any parts store for about $4. The kit contains the small size as well as the larger size.
