I have used Comp before, but in general I like to patronize the smaller companies.
I've also heard that CompCams buys some of its cores from Crane.

If you look into that a little closer you'll find that Comps custom ground cams, like the ones I recommended, (CRC lobes) are all ground in-house.

I'll bet that GM still doesn't grind their own cams either, for that matter. I remember back in the 80s the Chicago Police Department's squad cars with SB Chevy engines were losing cams on almost a daily basis. The lobes were going flat. Even the cam in my squad went flat. Seems they were being ground in Mexico and somehow someone changed the core specs which caused the problem.

Anyway, when the head of the #2 cam company - Crane - says someone else is better than they are, who am I to dispute that.
