First, why do you want to run a smaller gap? Is the car not running properly? Or do you just feel like shortening the gap? Unless your car is modded that requires the gap to be altered from its factory setting, leave it at the factory's recommendation. Those gap numbers are there for a reason.
I'm pretty sure AKS Racing's car is modified if its running 9's.
AKS Racing, have you looked into getting a multi coil system like the LTCC or Delteq, or something with more juice? That might solve your problems.

In the engine compartment, the emissions sticker says .05...
Here the recommendation is .035-.040
Are we talkin' .035-.040 for an L98 only?
Any idea for the optimum on LT1?
Thanks in advance...
Jeff
I used .05 with no problems on my LT4. Go with what the factory recommends unless you have a specific reason not to here.
Chilton says; all C4's all VIN's = .035" period. People just try to make this hard. Not as bad as an oil thread though!
I was with you on your first post.
But anybody who quotes a Chiltons manual has no business giving tech advice.
GM spec for an LT1 is .05. Which is a really bad choice if you use the stock plugs, since when they lose their pucks they open up to around .075
On a stock LT1 most people seem to run either at stock (0.05) or around .035-.04. With an LTCC a lot of people run .06
For anybody that wants a discussion on spark plug gap that is based on something other than looks or "because GM said so", well, as you can see this is not the right forum. There are plenty of technical threads on the subject on other SBC & LT1 forums.

I agree with your comments on the Delteq or coil on plug possibly supplying more juice. I think it may be time to look at a crank trigger with the COP alternative. I wonder if there is a simple interface harness that works with the FAST system. This really wasn't an issue until I started regularly pushing over 15 psi into the chambers.
I wonder how an MSD 7 or 8 is relative to the 6AL. Do any of these provide more voltage that might help when really cranking the cylinder pressures?

Thanks for the intelligent reply.

I think I remember reading on MSD's website that their LS1/6 blaster coils can be used with aftermarket EFI/DFI injection systems. I would suggest calling them and see if they have a kit or something to allow you to convert to a multi coil system with your car.
You might be able to run FAST Electronic Dist. along with your FAST. I bet the have had some requests for a multi coil system on their fast hardware, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have something to make it happen.
You might be able to wire MSD LS1/6 ignition controller up and run that along with your FAST. It seems like you would have to control fuel in one, and spark in another, but they might have something to work for both.
