Default Problem with new chip!

Just got done with all the upgrades to my 85. New headers, 52mm throttle body, accell intake. I had a new chip burned to accomidate this. Let me add that after the upgrades the car ran great with the stock chip. But I want to squeeze out all the hp I can. When I put the new chip in aas soon as I turned the key the dash went crazy. When I started the car the check engine light was flashing. It wasn't flashing a code it was flashing faster than a turn signal would. I tried to put the car in diagnostic mode and it would not even read code 12. When I went to drive the car it was backfiring in the motor and had no power. I put the stock chip in and everything was normal again. I read the codes again and got code 12 like normal. I bought it from pcm for less. Is it possible they didn't program something right?

It sounds like a bad burn to me. Double check the chip in the carrier, make sure that the notch in the chip is at the same end as the notch in the carrier. This orientates the chip so that pin 1 is correctly orientated to the carrier. If that is OK then the chip is either bad or the file is corrupted when they burned it. Sometimes one can get a bad chip even though the programming is verified by the chip programmer. These old 2732 chips are getting harder and harder to get new, and sometimes what we get are refurbished chips which are basically used chips that has been erased in a UV eraser. Thank god I have a ample supply of new chips for these old cars

Yep,

I sent him a new chip the day after I recieved a email saying he was having trouble. To be honest I think this will be the last batch of 2732 proms I buy. They are easy to tune.. but the failure rate is just rediculous.. The bad thing is they test OK in the machine.. so you never know when one is going to fail in the a car.
